  1. If you are satisfied with your job then there is no reason to give it up. I do not know how long you have been working on the computer, but maybe you need a different kind of screen (like a flat screen monitor) or a different kind of set up. Perhaps the particular environment you are working in could possibly be the problem and not the computer itself. Definitely you should get a second opinion and examine the situation yourself and keep a record of the side effects and what happens to you each day. Try taking breaks and take a few deep breaths, and stretch. See how you feel afterwards. Of course, there are other professions that do not require the computer as much, but still these days computers are in demand and you will need it even if you decide to do some other kind of work. If you really feel you need to change your profession completely, consider a job where you are not in an office all day. You could work doing advertising or traveling sales person, they make decent livings. Another profession which could be something for you is an environmentalist. They are always outdoors and frequently work and live in beautiful rural areas. Good luck.

  2. Carry on with your work, but spend less time on the computer or get help to work on the computer.

  3. Yeah options trading can be stressful.

Training in Autocad/Microstation is computer work so if its the computer that is the problem and not the stress then this will not work, but training is available to be complected within a month and pay depending on your education prior can start out making $75K but they will quickly move you to Designer making $150K if you are good.

There are NDE techs. Training for that is quick also. They start out small but as you get more certifications and training to become higher levels in 3 years time it is not inconceivable to be making 180$k on a contract.

Sales, is also an option. Find a place w/ account management and usually you have a certain amount of accounts that pay commission that they hand to you from the start. After that you gain new clients

  4. I wouldn't give up my professional career on the advice of one doctor. Get a second opinion. Maybe you just need to change up the way you use the computer. Take more frequent breaks. Make sure everything about your workspace is ergonomically correct; physical therapists can help out a lot in this regard.

    Good luck.
