I need a new laptop for typing essays, can anyone help me convince my grandma to buy it?

I'm just starting school, and I need all my essays typed, I'm searching for an affordable, laptop that can be used for mostly just internet and to type papers. Right now I'm thinking of ways to convince my grandmother to buy it for me, and also what kind of laptop to buy, I want a Dell Inspiron notebook, which is $499. Please help me!?!

point her to  a  asus  EEE which starts at  249  to  349  

is a h**l of  alot cheaper and easier to justify  you only want to use it for school work right ?

Dell is releasing an 8.9 inch laptop on august 22nd of this month that comes in 6 different colors starting from $299.

why don't you ask her about a desktop computer? You can get them for even less money and all computers you can just have the internet/word processing.
