  1. if not ipod go for sony

  2. I've never had an iPod, but I'm sure most people will tell you to get one of those.

I think Microsoft's Zune is really good. You can put MP3s, WMA, WMV, AAC, MPEG4, H264, and JPEGs. If you get a converter like Alive Video Converter, you can convert all of your movies into Zune format (or iPod or PSP). You can also use the Zune marketplace to download songs (you can't use iTunes) videos, movies, tv shows, podcasts and things like that. It uses the Microsoft points and can link up with your exsisting XBox Live account.

You can also get a Zune pass for about $15 a month and download unlimited music, but once you cancel the account you can't play the music. The marketplace also has DRM-free songs that are a little bit more expensive. Podcasts are free though.

I recommend getting one. I would stay away from Creative's MP3 players though, I've had two of them break in a year and a friend had one of hers break after a year.

  3. ipod DUH???. There are many options.

  4. I'd go with an ipod. I've had mine for a few years now, still works great and itunes is really easy to use and you can use it on a mac or pc. They can be a little more expensive but I think its worth it.

  5. iPod shuffle??

  6. It depends on how much space you need.

I bought a Creative Zen Stone 1G (that is about 250 songs) at Target on clearance for $30.  It is a great little player with suuuper long battery life.  It has no readout so you cannot see the titles of the songs you are listening to.  That doesn't matter too much to me.

My husband has a Creative Zen Stone 2G (about 500 songs) which HE got from Target for about $50.  It has a readout so that you can see the song titles, an FM tuner and an external speaker.

It is really a matter of what you are looking for specifically but if you just want something to tool around with or to take to the gym with you, we REALLY love these little players.  They are inexpensive, work nicely, have great battery life and the software they come with is pretty much idiot proof (I have had MP3 players with really clunky awful software that was difficult to navigate so this was a nice change).  They even came with decent headphones.  And because they were so inexpensive I don't feel leery about carrying it around on a daily basis.  If I lose it I am only out thirty bucks.

If you are looking for something that is going to hold your whole music collection along with photos and movies etc. etc. etc. that is an entirely different story.  ^_-

I feel that I can confidently recommend anything by Creative Labs, though, they make decent stuff that is cost-effective.
