Haven't had one for 6 months and that was years old. Any features to look out for? Models? Makes? (I'm going to get a low-cost contract)

I don't understand all the phone jargon to know what's for the best.

>Also I don't need music as I am buying an ipod shortly/unless I get iphone which is unlikely<

  1. Right. I'm not going to give you a website and I'm not going to tell you which phone to buy. But, with all the features modern phones have, you need to identify what you really need. For example:

    - Bluetooth: Are you going to be sending and receiving a lot of songs?

    - Camera: Would you like to be able to take pictures?

    - Memory: Do you need a massive 2GB memory for all your songs, or a 1GB memory for a lot of photos?

    - MP3/MP4 Player: Would you like to be able to play music and videos on your phone? (MP3 - music, MP4 - videos)

    - Tri-band or Dual-band: Do you need to use your phone in different countries? (Tri-band works in more countries than dual-band)

    - Design: Do you need a flip phone, or a more sturdy 'blocky' phone?

    - Screen: Do you need a huge screen, or maybe even a touch screen?

    - Battery life: Do you need a high performance battery for lots of talk time, or are you not going to use your phone that often?

Once you have identified the features you need, look for a phone that fits all those requirements. I'm not recommending a phone, because I can only recommend a phone I would like. However, I would look into buying a NOKIA, as they have a simple, easy to use interface and are perfect for everyday tasks.

Also, if you're planning on buying a new contract, they'll send you a new SIM card anyway, so don't worry about that. Besides, I doubt it would work after being put through the wash.

    Hope this helps,

    Tom.

  2. Go with Verizon Wireless. They have great coverage, and great phones for the money. I would recommend the LG Chocolate VX8550, which is free with a 2yr contract (Contracts start at $39.99 per month). Some useful features would be removable memory, which is good if you want to store a lot of music and pictures, and a 1.3 to 3.0 Megapixel camera, which is good if you like snapping photos a lot. If you like to send text messages a lot, you might want to look into a phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. A lot of Verizon phones have V Cast Music player, but that costs $1.99 more per month. Some Verizon phones come with Mobile Tv, which is really cool.

  3. Hey there, that's a tricky question, back when I was a kid youcould choose from a rectangle one, a flip one or a slidey one (if you were adventerous!) but now there are so many phones on the market - some for music, some for photos, some for pretty much everything but the kitchen sink! If you're anything like me and just want a nice looking functional phone that just phones and texts people I'd go for a Nokia 6300. In fact, 02 are currently giving away a FREE ipod touch with some of their contracts so you can kill 2 birds with one stone!

Hope that helps! Good luck, kx

  6. Get the Sony Ericsson K810i! 3.2megapixel cyber-shot, xenon flash, red-eye reduction, 16x digital zoom, autofocus, (the camera of k810i is better compared to the N95 8G and N82 w/ 5MP) 69MB phone memory, (expandable up to 4gig) MP3, WMA, AAC, eAAC+, AAC+, AMR, MIDI, IMY, EMY, WAV, RM, 3GP, MP4, WMV. 262k colors, FM radio, TrackID. Its around 12thousand pesos. (275 US Dollar) Dont buy Nokia, its just a waste of money!
