right now i have a 152 begginers snowboard, i need a new one, actually a better one, not so begginer.

so my question is how could i size up for a board,

whenever i go to a shop they just put it up to my chin, but that doesn't seem like it would work to much.

is they're any websites or anything i could go to and figure that out?

i want an all mountian board, not so much a park board

  1. not to your chin! the board should be a little below your nose.If you want an all moutian board look for wider boards for powder and stuff. Wider boards are good for backcountry snowboarding to cut though powder. All good al mountian board for a decent snowboarder would probly be the the best all mountian board would be the BURTON ROYAL (only $399.9) great deal it rides rly smooth. it just freekin awsome!

    hope this helps.

  2. stand up straight and if it touches your chin, its the right size.

  3. um it is the size up to ur chin, thats how u size it

  4. Sizing a snowboard is based on three things: your skill level, weight and height.

If you're a beginner you should ride a shorter board for more control.  If you ride more park than powder you'll want to get a shorter board.  If you ride more powder than park you'll want a long board.  If you ride both then you'll want something in between.  If you're heavier you'll want a stiffer board.

Assuming that you're average weight and you want a all mountain board then look for something about mouth height.

If your 152 is comfortable and you like riding it then stick with something close to that length.  There's no rule that says you have to buy different sized boards every time.  Check the board specs to make sure that your weight is within the range it's designed for and you should be good to go!

  5. Unfortunately alot of shop employees are either clueless or will just try and sell you any old c**p they have in stock to make a sale. It seems like you have met some of those already. The main things you need to take into account when buying a board is your weight, your height, the level of riding you are at and the type of riding you want to do. It sounds like from what you have written that you need an intermediate level All mountain board, if you email me your height and weight i can give you an accurate length to go for and also recommend some boards that will suit you. Good luck with the riding.
