  1. Try Merrills! They run about 50.00 for elementary age kids. My guys have yet to wear out a pair. The only problem we ever had was with the kind that had the little plastic pulley devise on top that broke. The store replaced it but it still wore down. The soles, the sides, etc... look great after two boys and we pass them on to another kid. Any shoes that last through 3 boys have to be great!

  2. If he ruined them in one day, take them back to the store.  They could have been defective, or could just be wrong for him altogether.  I had a pair of shoes that the same thing happened to (Nike's) and I took them back to the store and they were more than happy to send them back to the company and give me a refund.  The salesman also said that he thought that the reason it happened was because they are wrong for my feet.  Each brand of shoes is designed differently, and therefore, for a different shape of foot and style of walking.  A well trained salesperson can spot how the shoe is wearing incorrectly and suggest a brand that will be more practical for his foot type.

  3. Join the unhappy club..i have two sons who can trash shoes in a week or so.

I have tried cheap shoes but its false economy...i dont think brand matters if you go for a quality brand but style does. I have found that shoes with a seemed peice at the toe or front last longer than a seem free shoe. I buy from clarks and always go for this style, but it took trial and error. I also took shoes back if they were worn out after a month as i believe if you pay that amount of money they should last more than 4 weeks...i have had to fight my corner, as they claim my sons are rough on their feet or god forbid have been playing out or kicking a ball in them... I just pointed out that these are normal child activities and the design of the shoe should be built to deal with normal wear.

I have now got mine down to a couple of pairs a year which is marvelous for my purse strings.

  4. Try crocs The real crocs, not knock offs.

    Plz answer my question. Thanx!

  5. you might need to get a more expensive pair of leather shoes for him.  they should have lasted more than one day.

  6. get skate shoes

  7. Oh my goodness, I feel your pain!!  I have three boys 16, 15, & 9.  What I do is buy them a pair of Nikes (usually $70 on up) then a pair of hi top converse (chucks) usually $20-$30.  Have your son wear the Nike to school one day, then switch to the chucks, and so on.  This way you will save the wear and tear of the shoes.  If you want to look for bargins like I do, then try Eastbay.com they have a huge clearance section on shoes.  If you live in California, the try the outlet stores such as Ontario Mills Outlet Nike Outlet or the Puma Outlet.

Good luck.  The Eastbay.com is your best bet for bargins!!

  8. i'm a big fan of LLBean - the are very 'tough' shoes, made for outdoor sports etc and they have a wonderful return policy if it doesnt work out.   i have all boys and this has been the best solution for me.

  9. Threaten to take the cost of the new shoes out of his pocket money, then they will remarkably last!  It's possible he is not taking care of them at all, he may not be valuing them because he's not the one paying for them.

  10. My daughter is 7 and I always had Clarks until last time. I got fed up with her outwearing them and not outgrowing. Think the quality is shoddy now as she is quite heavy on her feet. I bought her a pair of Startrite shoes, which were slightly more expensive but i had them in October and they still look great, in fact the other day, after they had been polished, my Mum asked if she had new shoes on in the same style. Much, much better quality than Clarks.

  11. I have the same problem, I don't think indestructible shoes exist.

  12. My son was exactly the same!  Because I knew he would go through his school shoes like a packet of crisps, I only ever bought him a cheap pair of shoes (£10 per pair).  By the time Christmas came and went he was on his 3rd pair since September!  I was cheesed off to say the least!!

Invested in a pair of Clarks shoes for him and they have done the trick!  The cost me £34-£36 per pair they are not indestructable but they are the closet thing to indestuctable I have come across!

    Well worth investment!!

I hope this may help you, I feel your pain!!

  13. join the club  if you find any let me know

  14. I have Twin Boys 12yrs i started them off in Clarkes Shoes and still buy Clarkes, neaver had a bad pair.

  15. Do what I did...QUIT BUYING SHOES. My son was unbelievably hard on shoes as well but when he ruined a pair in one weekend I told him he had to keep wearing them. One week later he had the sole torn half off of one of the shoes. A couple of days after that it rained. When he got home from school not only was he wet but he was miserable. His friends had been telling him to start taking care of his shoes so his mom would buy him a pair. He promised to be careful, we got a new pair and he still has them months later. Just make sure you let his teacher and his friends' parents know what you're doing ahead of time so that you don't get strange looks!

  16. get skate shoes or nikes

  17. sorry they dont make them, try doc martins

  18. My son skateboards all the time.  He really abuses his shoes doing this.  Skate shoes are made for all the abuse.  I would suggest seeing if there is a skate shop near you and purchase a pair.  If there isn't a shop near you go to ccs.com

Some brand names of skate shoes are DVS, e s',  Vans etc.
