The number you gave is 1 digit short of being valid. The country code for Cameroon is +237, and after that you only list 7 digits. All internal Cameroon numbers have eight digits (meaning if you want to call your next door neighbor you have to dial 8 digits). Up until about 6 years ago all numbers were six digits, then as cell phone towers started popping up they had to increase it to 7 digits, then a few months ago they increased it to 8 digits.

The number you gave is most likely a cell phone number with the "Orange" cell phone network, therefore you can't say for sure whether the person who owns the number lives in Douala. If you want to make the number valid add a 9 after the +237.

Also phone books are non-existent, this is a country where aonly a tiny fraction of the phones are landlines, and most of the streets have no names. I loved it there.
