We are relocating to Chile and need to transport our pets (8 toy poodles, one cat and two reptiles), two adults. Total of 500 lbs.. The most important thing is the safety of our pets and we do not care to ship them through air cargo. We are located in Albuquerque, NM. Is someone out there who can help us

  1. http://www.jetcharters.com/Directory/CHI...

  2. As mentioned, look up "aircraft charter" and "jet" in a web search, then call a few companies. I do this type of flying coast-coast in the US, and I think you'll find it prohibitively expensive.

First, you're looking at roughly a 6,000 mile trip. Charter jets average from about $1.700 to over $5000 per flight hour and go between 450 and 550 mph, so you're looking at being charged a minimum of 12-15 hours one way, including taxi time on the ground. There are no small jets that could make that trip non-stop, and in fact you're probably looking at two stops for most of the cheaper, smaller sized jets. Stopovers with customs and refueling take time, plus the crew will run out of flight and / or duty time time (8 & 14 hours max, respectively) before you get there, so there's an overnight stop, plus landing fees, parking fees, visas, ground transportation, hotels to deal with, etc. etc. etc. If you want the trip to be easier on your pets, that alone might make sending them via non-stop airline flight worthwhile.

Second, you're looking at spending a bare minimum cost of $25,000 for such a flight one way, and since they most likely have to return empty unless YOU can arrange for a paying return customer, double that cost. A faster mid-size private jet that might make it with one stop will cost about  $40,000 one way, and again, the flight crew would run out of time enroute and everyone will have to spend the night somewhere.  They could send a second relief crew with the plane or ahead of the plane, but that involves a lot more expense or an even larger, more expensive plane.

If you can afford that for one trip, you could probably afford to own your own private jet.

  3. Do an internet search on "air charter."  It will really cost a lot, so be ready for that.
