  1. Get in touch with the folks at People's Choice Guide Cancun, they have lots of connections to locals and can probably help you find a great place for a reasonable price:

  2. If you are Not Mexican you can not stay anywhere in Mexico longer that 180 days.

You can apply for the FM3 . For that you will have to have to prove you have enough money or a large monthly income for approval.

FM3 is a one year renewable yearly for, in most cases, five years.  With it you can apply for permission to do something re numerable..

If you are caught over staying your visa the fine is around $100.00 per month.

P.S.CANCUN IS A SMALL TOWN.  You can walk around it a matter of hours.  Mexico city is huge!!

In fact it is almost 24 miles to walk the complete perimeter of Cancun. Look for "habitaciones disponible"  "Hay cuartos"

"Rento Cuartos" "Hay Departamentos" to name a few.

  3. We have a timeshare and could rent you that for a week at a time, depending upon availability and the price  you want to pay.  It's not terribly expensive but it's not a Motel 8 either.

If you went there you could probably buy into a timeshare like a studio apt. type and live there and you would have a place to fix your meals etc.

    What is your situation?

  4. Please check out two of the local chat boards in Cancun.

Cancunassist.com       (run by Scott, Canadian, been in       Cancun 11-years.)

Cancuncare.com          (run by Steve, Brit, been here a long time as well.)

Both boards list things you will need to stay in Cancun for an extended time. Options are FM3 (working and retired) or extended Tourist Visa which you can get for 6-months and then must leave the country to renew. Many people just drive up to Belize or Guatemala or even fly over to Cuba. The boards give you the full story.

  5. For the best rates and best places call 1-888-862-3806 and have a chat with the experts.

  6. Don´t worry. There are always rentals in Cancun. Go there, pick up a newspaper and see, what do you want? where do you want to live? Will you have a car?

I recomend you look for something near things (supermarkets etc), furnished, with AC, maybe even that they share a pool.

It is a huge city, but people are always renting.

    Good luck!

  7. You can see on craigslist.
