ok so today im playing a tennis match right and when i went to do my slice serve i totaly when to far to the right and swung right through without touching the ball. the girl gets mad and later says i cheated because i have always been told that it doesnt count as a serve . so was i right or was she? she is saying that is a seve so i would have double falted

  1. I've always been told it's not considered a serve if you don't make contact with the ball, regardless of swinging.  I may be wrong.  I'd like a web link url from that other response about it being a USTA rule 10b.


  2. If you had thrown the ball (without swinging the racquet) and caught it because the toss was wrong, that would have been fine.

  3. My mistake I was thinking of tossing the ball and not swinging  for some reason. Hugoboss is correct.

    She is right. If you swing with the intention of hitting the ball and miss it counts as a fault.
