Our VBS was trying to curtail cost. One of the Activities was to make slime. We decided not to actually buy the VBS slime kit. I need a quick/inexpensive way to make slime for Pre-K to Middle School

  1. equal parts of liquid glue and fabric softener.

  2. there are a couple of different things you can make that are easy and inexpensive. one that kids always love is Oobleck. the cool thing about Oobleck is that it is a solid and a liquid and kids think it's awesome (plus is washes off really easily). there is a dr. Seuss book about Oobleck that might be fun to read along with doing the activity.

    here's what to do:

mix 1 1/2 cups of corn starch with a cup of water and some food coloring for effect. the result is liquid yet solid.

here's another slime recipe that i found, but i've never tried this one:

    1/4 cup White Glue

    1 1/4 cup Water, divided

1 tbsp. Borax - found in the laundry detergent aisle of your grocery store

    Food Coloring

Borax is available in the laundry section of your local grocery store. Add 1 tbsp. Borax to one cup of warm water. Stir until completely dissolved.

Make a 50% water 50% white glue solution by taking 1/4 cup of each and mix thoroughly.

In a ziploc bag, add equal parts of the borax solution to equal parts of the glue solution. (Half cup of each will make a cup of slime.)

Add a couple drops of food coloring. Seal bag and knead the mixture.

If slime is too sticky, add a little more borax. If slime is too slippery, add a little more white glue solution.

and here is one more that doesn't use Borax:

    #  1 cup Elmer's glue

    # food coloring, your choice of color (optional: coloring can stain!)

    # 1 cup liquid starch

Pour glue and coloring in plastic container.

Stir until color is thoroughly mixed in.

Add starch a little at a time, stirring with a spoon or kneading with your fingers as mixture thickens.

Keep stirring until mixture holds together like putty.

Test with your fingers: if too sticky, add more starch in small amounts until mass is smooth and rubbery.

i'd go with the Oobleck though. you'll have a blast!

  3. Elmer's glue and liquid starch. just keep adding until you get the consistency you want. Then add green food coloring! Enjoy!

  4. Follow this link.  A great one for slime as well as silly putty.

    Enjoy!
