I need a really great birthday present idea!

Question

So, I'll be leaving for college at the end of august and my youngest sister who will be going into middle school/6th grade, is really sad that I'm leaving. Her birthday is in a few weeks and I want to get her something kinda special.

My two only ideas right now are a smaller version of a (fake) diamond palm tree necklace that I have and wear all the time, or a webcam that we could maybe use to chat while I'm away.

I'm not really looking to make anything like a scrapbook of pictures, she has all that stuff. ANY ideas you have would be great and so much appreciated!! Shes a real girly girl if that helps at all.

Money so she can choose any thing to her desire.

Maybe you two can go to one of those stores such as clairs or after thoughts and get a neck a lace that is Best Buds or Best sisters! That would be something she could wear all the time

How about making her up a little gift basket with the necklace, ( I think the necklace is a great idea)  and a few other things, like some cute pens, notes, body spray etc. Taking her out and spending time with her is the best gift of all.( a birthday lunch movie etc)  I wouldn't get her a webcam just now, she is a little young, you may want to do some research on them.

Maybe get her a gift card to the mall or something. She'd like that. And the webcam sounds like a great idea, so you two can stay in touch.

You could take her out shopping, just you and her. It'll be a special day for both of you, then maybe a dinner afterwards?  Memories like that are cherished and remembered forever.

How about a nice necklacet with a  locket, with your photo in it ?    Girls love any type of jewelry and it would be something special  she could always cherish .

I think that both of your ideas are terrific. If I were you, I would buy her a webcam and set her up with some video chatting software (or an AIM account if she doesn't already have one). It would be so nice for your younger sister to see you even when you are very far away from her. Just be sure to get on often ;)

How about something you feel no kid should grow up without?  For example, a friend of mine who we see yearly grew up on Calvin and Hobbes so he bought my daughter a whole book of Calvin and Hobbes funnies. I wasn't sure she would like it but she reads it every day and finished it several times.  

I think it's important that when you give, you give from the heart. In this case, my friend shared his fond memory from his childhood with my daughter.  

Just remember that you will be sisters forever, but the thought you put into her feelings about essentially losing a sister will make a big difference to her in years to come, even if she doesn't understand it today.

webcam = out of question, coz it's too dangerous if misused.

a diamond palm tree necklace sounds great.

how about writing a poem about ur relationship between ur sister in a card(with ur own words) or back of a picture of u two?

or give her a stuffed animal

- a perfume

- a bracelet (u can make one if u want or just buy a unique one)

- get her some girly stuff, such as a brand new make-up set.

- if she's into reading, get her a book of her favourite author

- or a great idea, you two go shopping, and get some matching clothes!

these are the ideas that i have in my head, u can choose whatever appeals to u and good luck.

instead of buying her only one thing, you shoud make a cute little gift basket sort of thing...likeget a a cute furry pink basket and fill it up with things your sister would love...like you can get the necklace you said, and the webcam, a picture of you and her, and lipgloss (since shes girly), and maybe a diary or something, and other things that she would like, and then put it together inside the basket, and tie a little ribbon on top and make it look cute...

I would love something like that!! since I am kinda girly too..and I have a feeling your sister would like it too :)

Yesterday I was at walmart and they had these really cute stuffed animals and you can store your digital photos on them (its a digital photo frame), They were about 25 dollars. I am actually getting my sister one.
