how cheap? I had a reliable 04 honda accord EX-L with touch screen GPS, black heated leather, 6 speed manual. faster than last model GT. got 32 mpg at 80mph with cruise control and a/c blowin.

If you live near a military base you would be surprise how many service men are selling their cars because they are being sent over seas. When I was in the service, there was always someone selling a nice cheap car. And they were always in a hurry to sell. It's not taking advantage of them, they needed the money. I speak from experience.

I think a Honda Civic is the best you can get. It's price range is from about $14,000-$24,000. Typically, it gets from around 28 MPG - 31 MPG and the hybrid scoring at around 40 MPG. It comes in two platforms: sedan & coupe. I would recommend the Si coupe since you are looking for style, performance, mileage ETC. since it has all of those combined.

(P.S. you still might want to check out Toyota since they have the Camry and Corolla)

haha you cant have cheap, fast and reliable.

however Vtec Hondas are a good compromise.
