Question:

I need a root canal....

I have a deep crack inside one of my back teeth, and the dentist said I need a root canal on that tooth. I also have a small crack inside the tooth next to it, but the doc said I would just need a veneer on that one. This was early this year. Here's my question, I haven't gotten the root canal done yet or the cap. My tooth is starting to hurt more and more. I'm sure it will get progressively more painful...I think. Does anyone know if it is unhealthy or anything like that? Will it affect my gums if I just leave it as long as I can. They aren't cheap, I was quoted 1500.00 for the procedure! Yikes

  1. Yeah, they are expensive. I paid around $500 for mine because of this great plan I have. www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands, from xrays, exams, crowns..etc. All services are included in this very affordable plan. My benefits were even active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. good luck and hope this helps.

  2. it can get infected and you should see about getting it pulled out it is way cheaper than a root canal if it doesn't hurt too bad right now  get it pulled cause sooner or later it will become very painful.

  3. just get something done about it asap because it is not going to get better on its own. i would also recommend not getting it pulled because then u would have additional charges such as a new tooth. also getting a tooth pulled can cause other complications. i know!

  4. There are different opinions on this. Some dentists would not do a root canal if the nerve is still alive. If it is alive, you can keep healing it by eating high antioxidant foods like garlic, green teas. If you decide to have a root canal you can save money by signing for the membership through endodontist4less.
