  1. Perhaps something along the line of using paper towels, plants need water to survive like us. Saline given at the hospitals....

  2. Water is good. Say it 5 hundred times and you will be there.

  3. Quote from source 1:

Hold up a glass of water and invite a volunteer to take a sip and determine its age. Explain to the

class that the water’s age is approximately 4.5 billion years old (as old as our planet), and it is in

constant motion back and forth between the ground and atmosphere. The sun and wind cause

evaporation from the soil, plant leaves, animal bodies and the surfaces of rivers, lakes and oceans.

In this way, liquid water is transformed into steam. Under certain conditions, the steam condenses

and falls back to the ground as rain, sleet or snow. This process of water reaching streams and

rivers — often carrying various other materials along with it — is called “outflow.” It is in this way

that rainfall feeds rivers and lakes, and rivers then flow into the oceans. Some water that falls,

however, goes beneath the ground, and this creates underground (subterranean) reservoirs.

    Quote from source 2:

Why You Need to Drink Water

Your body is estimated to be about 60 to 70 percent water. Blood is mostly water, and your muscles, lungs, and brain all contain a lot of water. Your body needs water to regulate body temperature and to provide the means for nutrients to travel to all your organs. Water also transports oxygen to your cells, removes waste, and protects your joints and organs.

    Signs of Dehydration

You lose water through urination, respiration, and by sweating.

If you are very active, you lose more water than if you are sedentary. Diuretics such as caffeine pills and alcohol result in the need to drink more water because they trick your body into thinking you have more water than we need.

Symptoms of mild dehydration include chronic pains in joints and muscles, lower back pain, headaches and constipation. A strong odor to your urine, along with a yellow or amber color indicates that you may not be getting enough water. Note that riboflavin, a B Vitamin, will make your urine bright yellow. Thirst is an obvious sign of dehydration and in fact, you need water long before you feel thirsty.

  4. Find out what the percentage of the human body is water, and then have as a prop a jug of water filled with a combination of water and a solid, like sand, to demonstrate the proportions.

Use a photo of a mummy to show what we'd look like minus the water.

Use a partner to show the different stages of heat injuries, like heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat cramps, etc.

There's a few ideas for you, anyway.  Good luck!

  5. I think I've got two ideas, the first is to use osmotic pressure:

take 2 graduated cylinders fill one with salt water the other with tap water and put a carrot in each, the carrot in salt water will shrink because the water in the carrot will be drawn into the salt water because it's most stable.  The tap water carrot won't have this happen.  That's what happens to your cells when you're dehydrated.

I don't know how you could work it in, but if you have some potassium metal or sodium peroxide, they can light things on fire with the addition of water, the reverse is true for phosphorus, it is safe while underwater but reacts with oxygen in air.  All of these are very unsafe though and hard to come by the chemicals.
