An easy, good quality science fair project idea would be to build an electric generator such as a mini windmill. You can do this fairly simply. Go to http://www.scientificsonline.com and look for some crank generators of electricity. Now just maybe reduce the friction a tad, but not too much or you won't get any electrical current, and dress it up as a windmill. You can then wire a circuit to a mini light bulb, and have it go on when the wind mill "wings" start turning. Attach one of your wings to your crank generator, so when the wing does a full rotation, so does the arm on your electric generator. Try to find a crank generator with a very low amount of friction.
