  1. My eleven year old loves to cook, too.  You might need a little bit of help with this, but it's such a good recipe I thought I should give it to you.  This stuff is so yummy - I could just about eat it by itself.

    German Chocolate Cake Frosting

    Mix:

    1 c. sugar

                    3 egg yolks

    1 c. evaporated milk

    ½ c. butter

                    1 t. vanilla

Cook until slightly thickened and smooth.

    Add:

    1 1/3 c. coconut

    1 c. pecans

Stir until thick enough to spread.

  2. Ok..lets see...You could do a chocolate ganache but mom will have to help you:

    9 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped

    1 cup heavy cream

       1.   Place the chocolate into a medium bowl. Heat the cream in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Bring just to a boil, watching very carefully because if it boils for a few seconds, it will boil out of the pot. When the cream has come to a boil, pour over the chopped chocolate, and whisk until smooth.

       2. Allow the ganache to cool slightly before pouring over a cake. Start at the center of the cake and work outward. For a fluffy frosting or chocolate filling, allow it to cool until thick, then whip with a whisk until light and fluffy.

  3. Tell Mom to go buy some.

    Or use jam.

  4. CREAMY BUTTER FROSTING

    Ingredients:

    1/3 cup butter

    1/4 teaspoon salt

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 pound (3 1/2 cups) sifted confectioners sugar

    3 to 4 tablespoons milk

    Preparation:

Cream butter, salt, and vanilla, beating until light and fluffy. Add sugar gradually, beating after each addition. Add 3 tablespoons milk, beating until smooth. Beat in more milk until desired spreading consistency is reached. Makes about 2 1/3 cups of frosting, enough to frost tops and sides of of an 8-inch 2-layer cake or a 10-inch tube or bundt cake, or about 1 dozen cupcakes.
