It is for an simple event in a rustic setting, they will be doing outdoor hunting related things like learning about food plots and studying fields. There are no kitchen facilities with running water, just a large pole building that they will eat in. My husband wants me to make barbeque, but I would have to make it in advance and don't have enough refrigerator space to keep it cold for a day or two.

  1. In that situation, we love fish fillet with bones.  Definately a man's dish.  Then you can add red potatoes and corn cobs.  I'm so there.

  2. If you have access to electricity , I would do some crock pots with Sloppy Joes and serve them with some picnic sides like cole slaw, bean salad, etc.

If you can grill when you're there, I would do simple hotdogs and hamburgers with picnic sides.

If you have access to pretty much nothing, I would do a sandwich bar- have several trays of meats, cheeses, condiments, etc. Than you could use picnic sides to go with the sandwiches- baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, cookies, brownies.

  3. will they have electricity where they are?...If so send hubby out with a dutch oven with the brisket already seasoned and ready too cook. give him precise instructions on what temp and about how long to cook it and when to add if any sauce. good luck. if they want baked beans have a buddy coming along bring a dutch oven as well and his can opener.

  4. We used to have annual Christmas parties for up to 750 people.  I made crockpots of chili,  large pans of cornbread and green salad (with choice of dressing).....An assortment of cookies, brownies for dessert.   Easy to do, easy to transport & heat up, and inexpensive:)

  5. Tree bark slivers on a bagel

  6. 250 Sausages

500 beers, (just to wet the whistle, nothing more)

    125 Beefburgers/Buns

    20 lettuces

    32 tomatoes

15 squeezy bottles of BBQ sauce

Bought the night before and cooked when required, the boys can do their own..u know how guys like BBQ's!

Cold pasta salad for all which would be the only thing you need to chill made a day before.

  7. order some KFC

  8. ifn hubby wants a barbeque made...let HIM do it :P lol

    men are men..get a huge pot..open 125 cans of chilli..or baked beans..heat..and serve with crusty bread :P

  9. No matter what you make, keeping it cold and heating it up will be an issue. 125 people is a lot of people. I recommend hot dogs with chili or cheeseburgers. Rent a big grill to cook the burgers or hot dogs. Serve with potato salad and chocolate chip cookies.
