I need a sleeping routine, BIG PROBLEM. Help?

Okay, I neeeeeed a sleep routine. It's a big problem for me, and I need to fix it, now. Help me?

So, in the summer I wind up falling asleep around 1-3 a.m. and waking up around 11-12 a.m.

Don't tell me to not watch TV before bed, because I won't listen, TV seriously does not bother me or affect my sleeping, i think. (:

During the school year I try to go to bed anywhere from 9-10 p.m. and then I have to wake up really early the next day. I have a really hard time getting up on school days, even if I get enough sleep, it's horrible :[ I actually found out that the later i go to bed on school nights (11 p.m.) and get up early the next morning, I feel a lot better in the morning, but then I am totally crashed at the end of the day.

I really need help, I don't know what to do.

Can someone help me? Thank you soo much.

I'm putting this in a couple sections because I want more opinions.

Thanks.

  1. The biggest thing is to not be on your computer before you do to bed. I don't know if you do that but there is something about the light it emits that keeps you awake. I didn't really believe it until i tried though.

Also do not have caffeine past like 4 or 5.

if you're having trouble falling asleep while in bed try writing your thoughts down to get them out of your mind so you're more relaxed.

just keep trying and eventually you should adjust.

Also its supposed to  be best if you get up about the same time on the weekends although i don't do that.

  2. ok this is what I read in the doctors office the other day, in a magazine, tips on getting better sleep

one was to not let your pets sleep with you. one was to use your bed for sleep and s*x only (unless your too young for s*x of course don't worry about that)

no caffeine after noon. no liquids after 4  pm um... what else was there. o make your room dark and quiet, oh there was the no tv but I didn't believe that because tv makes me sleepy. oh don't go to bed if your not sleepy if your just going to be laying there awake. oh do something like balance a check book or home work if you cant sleep , or read a book. that's about all I can remember. but you can google sleep tips I bet you will get some answers there.

  3. Try going to bed around seven or eight or nine

Thats what i did when i had that problem

I know it sounds stupid and too early but hey its worth a try

  4. TV actually does impact you, because it stimulates/overworks your mind. Reading is a better alternative, especially if you're lying down while reading. Just had to add that in. :)

You might want to try putting some lavender on your pillow... I find that that relaxes me a lot, and I don't toss and turn and wake up all night. If that doesn't work, you might want to try going to bed earlier and waking up later until you get the rest that you need.

If you absolutely CANNOT function like that, you always have the option of energy drinks. However, those have about twelve spoons of sugar, and you crash eventually.

If this persists, you might want to see your doctor.

  5. generally, you are getting the same amount of sleep on nights where you have school the next day, and nights that you do not.

the reason you have trouble getting up in the morning is because your sleep patterns are off and you are trying to go to bed at 9 or 10pm when you probably aren't tired at that time. my advice would simply be to only go to bed if you are tired. i know that sounds simple, but don't force yourself to go to bed earlier just because you have school the next day. if you feel that you really should try to get to sleep that early, go to bed around 9 and read a book for about an hour with a lamp on. the reading should make you sleepy in no time, and you probably will sleep through the whole night.. when you wake up in the morning you should feel refreshed, not overly tired.

  6. I have the same problem and it really sucks, i end up waking up late and having about 15 min to get ready and wake my dad up and get to school.

I have noticed that instead of television, music actually helps or if you do watch tv watch something on that bores you.

-set about 3-4 alarms(phone/regular alarm/tv alarm--all work) all on that dreaded beep setting if you can.

    - Set your alarm fast by about 15 min or any time you want cause, if you get up look at your alarm and it seems like you are running late that adrenaline rush from freaking out will get you out of bed, it happened to me when i read my alarm wrong and thought i was an hour late, my but was out of bed in about 2 seconds flat lol.

-for the end of the day crash thing you can drink some caffinated pop when u get home from school or anything really that gives you energy like tea, you could work out, which would get your blood flowing giving a sense of energy.

I read that its unhealthy to get TOO much sleep so depending on when you have to get up you might be fine with 11. I go to bed around then sometimes not until 12 and i get up @ 6, and my grades are good, i do great on tests so 6-7 hours isnt going to effect your school work.

    hope this helps

  7. i have that same problem right now but im trying something new where i didnt sleep at all last night and so ill be tired tonight. i think it will work...

  8. You didn't say how old you are but teenagers need around 9 hours of sleep a night in order to function the next day. You need to spend some time de-stressing. (Just try this) Turn off the TV because it keeps your mind stimulated and not calming down to sleep. Make sure you aren't ravenously hungry a little snack with a glass of milk might be nice. Take a shower and get in your comfy jammies and get into bed. The same time every night. If you need to be up at six try to be in bed by 9. Read a boring book (may I recommend Jane Eyre, a page of that and I'm out) for a while and then turn the light off and go to sleep.

  9. omg i'm going through the SAME exact problem. my best advice is to keep going to bed at 9pm and let your body get used to it. you just have to train your body to adjust to the new bedtime schedule. i read in Seventeen that its not healthy to change your sleeping schedule just because the weekend or summer vacation has arrived: because a cycle like that will leave you cranky-and may even trigger hormones that make you overeat and gain weight. so i have to break that bad habit too.
