So, my school musical is Bat Boy, and the director told me that we had to have a comedy monolouge, and a rock song. If you guys could help me find a song, I will be so greatful!!! I'm in between a 2nd soprano and an alto, but, more going towards an alto, but I can sing soprano. I'd prefer a song from a musical, but, any song will work for me. Thank you so much!!

  2. OOO!  How bout OUT TONIGHT from Rent!  It's Rock, and it's from a musical!  Totally awesome song.  It does have a few high notes, but if you can pull them off, you will WOW!

    Break a Leg!!

  3. I'd suggest something from "Hairspray" or "Grease", the two greatest musicals ever!

    Hairspray:

    Good Morning Baltimore

    Welcome To The 60's

    Grease:

    Sandra D.

    Better Shape Up

  4. Day by Day from Godspell is PERFECT for your voice and it's rock musical! PLEASE check it out I know you will love it!

  5. i definitely agree with the person that suggested out tonight from rent. really any song from rent would be great to use, use should watch the movie and pick out some songs that you like and i also suggest picking a song that really speaks to you.

  6. This is a really good one if you can truly sing. It's not rock. If you want a rock musical song, I would try "Jesus Christ Superstar"

Keep watching the video because Judy Garland doesn't start her singing part until halfway through.

  7. try 'a part of this' from 'the last 5 years'.

  8. ur in skool already?

  9. "Over my head"(cable car) by "The Fray" it is pretty good 4 altos or 2ed soprano listen 2 the chorus

or "I can't wait to see you again" by "Miley Cyrus

    they r sorta rocky

  10. Something from RENT, Tick Tick Boom! (Come to Your Senses is a gorgeous song), Hair, Grease, Godspell, Tommy, Rocky Horror Show or even Chess - they're all rock musicals and you should be able to find something that suits your voice in there!  Stay away from Wicked as even though it does have rock elements to it, it's very overdone.

  11. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"

  12. "Flesh Failures/Let the Sun Shine In" from Hair.

It's the most emotional song in that musical, and highlights (requires) a wide vocal range. I would reccomend leaving out the "Manchester England England" verse, though-- it's a reprisal from an earlier song, and wouldn't really fit taken out of context.
