if your voice is soulful and you sound good singing nickelback stuff, i think my immortal by evanescence. im a singer also and if my voice had more of a pure tone i would sing this, but your vocal descriptions sounds like that song would be perfect. you can download the backing track from isohunt.com  or limewire and the words and give it ago. customize your sound with it.
