  1. have 2 songs prepared.. a ballad and an upbeat song..are you aditioning for a specific show?..if so, you need to find out if they want a song from that show..if it's just a general audition, try something that's recognizable but not overdone and prepare well, get lots of rest the night before you audition (if you can!)..don't go out the night before!.. go to bed early..don't drink caffeine or milk on the day of the audition... drink lots of water..sing in front of a mirror.. watch how you look..remember to breathe whenever you can in the song..don't strain your voice just sing like you've been singing your whole life!!..I wish you the BEST!  Ellen

  2. in my own little corner from cinderella by rogers and hammerstein. its simple and if you sing in right makes a rich sound. good luck

  3. Before anyone can make a real suggestion, we'd need to know your vocal range.  It would also help to know what show and role you are auditioning for and whether they specified to sing from the show or not and if they preferred upbeat or ballad.  In general you need to find a song within your vocal range (and the same range as the role for which you are auditioning) that also shows similar characteristics of that character.  Basically you need to show them that you can be that character.  Generally you do not sing a song from the show, but sometimes a director will actually prefer it.  You can start by looking at music from the same composer, but it's not necessary that you choose from that selection.  A similar style and genre would be great.  Also, pay attention to how much time you have.  Usually you get 16-32 bars of a song and your music should be properly marked before you go in.  Have your voice teacher help you with that.  Make a xerox copy of the music so you're not marking up your original.

Try searching for songs on musicaltheatreaudition.com and stageagent.com to start, but they do not suggest everything you coud possibly sing.  Sheet music can be bought and printed from musicnotes.com.  Post another question with more info. and maybe you'll get better andmore specific suggestions.

    good luck,

    Marianne

  4. seasons of love by rent.

    it's a great catchy song :)

  5. Seasons of Love=NO. It's over rated and a little difficult to tackle if it's your first audition. A lot of people go into an audition and think they can pull off that crappy whistle-tone high in it, but they can't.

I would recommend "Doin' What Comes Naturlly" from Annie Get Your Gun. Real simple song.

Or (a song that I prefer opinion wise) "Don't Tell Mama" from Cabaret.

  6. The old Coca-Cola commercial.
