I need a summer exchange program to France where I can stay in a beautiful vine-yard for the summer...is there such? I'd like to remain in a vine-yard, it'd be a cool experience. Or a castle...I am 16 years old so...I don't apply to programs that require you to be over 18. If not, what is the best exchange program that offers visits to lots of places, preferably castles and museums and vine-yards and cafes etc...that offer French classes, too, obviously...and how much would it be? how expensive can it get? if I save at least 1000 dollars, is that enough?

  1. I would say look through your school.  Go to a school counselor and talk to him or her.  Or your French teacher.  But if you wait until you are 18, and do it for a summer for college, it will probably be better.  You won't be under so many restraints that way.  $1,000 will probably only cover airfare.  But like I said, your school counselor can guide you.

Okay, I looked at the link provided below.  It sounds good.  You'd do well to be supervised, since terrible things can happen to unsupervised teens who aren't world travelers.

  2. Check out Amerispan, they have various study abroad programs. don't know if they'll let you stay in a vineyard though. Below is a link to there teen program page.

  3. most programs you do not get to choose your family or type of house.  people who allow students into their home do it for not much $$$ or no $$$, so it's almost volunteer on their part.

check w/ your local rotary club, they sponsor their own exchange program, but you still need to pay for your own expenses that the family does not provide.  also, afs but they charge a lot & $1000 is not enough but maybe you can get a scholarship.

most exchange programs either depend on the families to take the kids around (or not )as part of their homestay.  afs charges extra for the kids to go on a group tour which afs arranges...it can get very expensive.

if you want to go badly enough you will definitely find a way to make it happen!!!!good luck!!!!  do a web search & email the different groups for their brochures & info
