  1. Is it about a certain team? Like for a yearbook, or a piece on a local club.  Or just about the sport in general?

Hrmmmm... well why don't you try something like "Rowers Rock the Boat" or "Rowing Makes Waves." I don't really know much about journalism.  I looked in my old yearbook and the headlines really have nothing relevant for your article.  The girls' headline was "Eat Our Wake!" and the boys' headline was "Row, Row, Row Your Boat!" I guess none of the students on the yearbook committee became journalists. :P Sorry I couldn't help more.  If I get anymore ideas, I'll post them. :)

  2. It depends on the story.  Is it technical, humorous, inspiring, informational, biographical ?

The lightweight 8 of my junior year was on the cover of the university phone book.  Suddenly everyone new why I and seven other guys were in sweats at breakfast everyday.  We were all easily recognizable from a closeup from the port side of the boat, taken in panorama.
