  1. look in a crystal ball. lol

but seriously, that's the million dollar question.  And most "predictions" are based on models.

Let me tell you that 95% of the "information" you'll find on the internet is bunk and incredibly biased.

You must stick to academic/scientific/peer-reviewed journals, and authors who have years of working in the field.  Sorry, but I'm not in that field, so I can't recommend any names.

  2. Oh, it's already happening.

  3. These reports are by far the most accurate information available, if slightly conservative because they were produced as consensus documents by a large group.  The first is why it's happening, the second is what is happening and will happen:

    http://www.ipcc.ch/SPM2feb07.pdf

    http://www.ipcc.ch/SPM6avr07.pdf

But nobody knows exactly when.  The difficulty is "feedback mechanisms".

There are positive feedbacks.  Warming melts ice, exposes dark soil, more warming.  Or warming warms oceans, which have to release some of their dissolved CO2, more warming.

And negative ones.  Warming causes more clouds which block sunlight.

No one knows exactly how the feedback mechanisms will play out.  The IPCC reports don't try to include them in their calculations.

Most scientists suspect that positive ones will dominate.  That is the position taken in "An Inconvenient Truth" which is a big reason why it differs somewhat from the IPCC reports.

Here's a good website, but it's a lot of data without a simple structure.  Best for answering questions about this or that.

    http://www.realclimate.org

    "climate science from climate scientists"

  4. The source is the INTERGOVERNMENTAL PANEL ON CLIMATE CHANGE Summary for Policymakers, as prepared by the scientists who recently met in Paris.

Here are some items I gleaned from it.

    Table SPM-2 says:

Warmer and fewer cold days and nights virtually certain over most land areas.

Warmer and more frequent hot days and nights virtually certain over most land areas

Warm spells or heat waves will likely increase over most land areas

Heavy precipitation events will very likely increase over most areas.

Area affected by droughts likely increases in many regions.

Intense tropical cyclone activity will likely increase.

Increased incidence of extreme high sea level likely.

None of these prediction have numbers, but lower down the document is table SPM-3 which gives estimated temperature rise between 1.1 and 6.4 degrees C (2 to 12 degrees F) and sea level rise between 18 and 59 centimeters (7 to 23 inches).

These are the changes predicted in 100 years. For the changes in 10 years, divide by 10.

  5. You need to talk to Al Gore

he is the expert in this

do u want me to set up an appointment for u

  6. As someone said, this is the million (or trillion) dollar question. And we all need more accurate info.

Notice that some people are now referring to this phenomenon as "Climate Change." There is no question that our climate is changing (the Earth cycles between ice ages) but the question of whether there is global warming, how much and how fast is difficult to reach a consensus on and may be unanswerable because of the multitude of variables that must be factored into climate change models.

What do know is that we ARE changing the environment with our pollution and rising carbon dioxide levels and every action does have a reaction.

  7. This is something I found to be very concise and very interesting on this topic. Nick Tredennick is very savy with trends in emerging technology.

The link to the Michael Crichton article is very good.

I find a lot of mis-information out there on this topic and a lot of very poor 'science'.

Good luck on your search for more information and hope this helps you out.

    Aliens & Global Warming     May 30, 2006

After reading hundreds of pages of articles and books on global warming, my favorite is "Aliens Cause Global Warming" by Michael

Crichton. It can be found here: http://www.crichton-official.com/speeche...

Michael Crichton's State of Fear is also a good introduction to the hoax.

The next piece I write on global warming will contain the following: 95.5% of the CO2 comes from natural sources other than man. Water vapor, which is about 4% of the atmosphere, has an absorption spectrum that covers the CO2 absorption spectrum. CO2 is about 0.03 of the atmosphere. Global climate models (GCMs) don't model clouds (water and water vapor) well, so H2O effects, which are a hundred times more important than CO2 effects, are ignored. Human activity doesn't measurably affect the atmosphere's H2O content.

Climate response to CO2 concentration is logarithmic, not linear. Doubling the CO2 in the atmosphere doesn't double the effect, just as wearing five hats doesn't give five times the shade.

Global climate changes correlate well with sunspot activity, which is also not amenable to political manipulation.

I think the cause and effect relationship is inadequately established. Correlation is not causation. Are CO2 levels the cause of warming or an effect of warming? This reminds me of the businesses that tell you there's a correlation between high intelligence and a large vocabulary and then encourage you to buy their vocabulary-enhancement courses.

Actually, I'm not convinced that anything other than noise is being measured on scales shorter than decades.

  8. no one can accurately predict the future like "in 2010 it will be" or in 50 years the sea will rise by..".  for a good overview of global warming that is not doom & gloom hysteria or anthropocentric denial, visit the union of concerned scientists website:

    http://www.ucsusa.org/global_warming/

  9. Significant amounts of Carbon dioxide rise into the atmosphere and traps heat of the sun which is reflect ofo of the ground. The trapped heat rises the average temperature on the planet causing many signicant effects. Examples could be forest fires , severe drought, hurricanes(increase in intensity do to rising water temperatures). The most significant of effects would be the melting of the polar ice caps and greenland, which cause 20 of the 25 to flood resulting in major displacement of billions of people. When this happens depends on how soon we react to reduce are co2 output. We are already beginnin to see the effects of this. If we continue to do nothing the worst could happen as early as like 2020.

  10. there is a lot of evidence of man made climate change .and there are many reasons to hide the truth

scientists who work for politicians ,get paid by these politicians and they have downplayed the facts because solutions are expensive and means change and change effects many peoples incomes, and upsets profit margins,so most of the world is kept in the dark of the real things that are going on.for political and economic reasons

Global warming is a very complex collection of many effects

this text only covers some aspects of global warming ,mainly agriculture i.e.effects of deforestation and subsequent man made desertification

water and air polution such as caused by

industrial contamination ,the contaminating effects of the cities(the internal combustion engine) ,are other stories,

and all of these are also man made ,such as the high industrial chimneys pumping contamination into the clouds and the burning of tires, some of this polution has been found in the ice in the polar regions

there are natural cycles in the planets life

but a lot is influenced by mans existance ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms

climate change is caused in great parts by desertification ,and most desertification is caused by man

the thinner ozone layer helps to speed this up.and this is caused mainly by air polution ,also as a result of mans actions

    DEFORESTATION

    in the past

the Building of the Spanish Armada deforrested Spain

the Phoenician trading fleet turned Lebanon in a dessert

Ganges Khan put everything to the sword and torch, then filled the wells with sand,

the sun finished of the job and whole countries turned to wastelands.

    Today ,

Slash and burn destroys the protective vegetation (which helps to form the soil ),

leaving it open to the Sun ,and then ,wind and, water erosion.

The Plough turns the soil ,killing micro-biotic life (essential to soil building) and accelerates the drying out .

Pressures of the :vehicles, cattle and rain impact brings the salt to the surface.

Mono cultures ,aided by chemicals Exhaust and pollutes the soil .

Adding to this the effects of overgrazing has resulted in large scale desertification.

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,Farmers

    are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers

and plowing more and more unstable lands going into the jungles and onto mountain slopes

expanding populations and expanding farming ,that has to keep pace with the expanding populations are very strong forces that encroach upon the rainforest's

clearing them for farming and settlement areas .

Rainforest's always are in third world countries and always in third world countries corruption and the need for money s highest

in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification and some have died as a result

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year

and most of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up ,

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,

and there are less and less farmers to do it..

Arable lands and their farms are lost all over the globe. Many farmers sons abandon farming and head for the cities.

Northern China is drying up, what once were millions of food producing people, are now hungry refugees ,running for their lives from the all consuming dust storms.

This will have a great effect on world food prices when they start buying at what ever cost, to feed their people.

Africa and Asia are loosing millions of people to AIDS , many of whom were food producers.

The farmers that are left have to feed some 70 million more people than the year before but with less topsoil.

    Over the last half century,

Population growth & rising incomes have tripled world grain demand from 640 million tons to 1,855 million

In the near future the global farming community will not be able to feed every body ,food prices will continue to rise. .

    RISING SEAS

The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.

this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter

Global warming could be slowed down to some extent, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where, instead of just some third world countries Source(s) here are a 100 ways to help

  11. Umm.. I'm actually in the middle of writing a research paper on it..... the dates  are not valid its a wark in proccess i just made it up until insert my sources but I have gone over a lot a research on both sides of global warming... So use it if you want.... Please don't plagiarize it though this is just for help

    Global Warming, Is it Us?

What exactly is Global Warming? I find it being discussed everywhere, the newspapers, television , the Internet and in peoples day to day conversations.  Why has this issue struck a cord in the attention of Americans. Well first of all we can contribute much of the attention that we have given Global Warming to the great job the media has done with exploiting this issue with such wonderful accuracy and non-bias reports.  What the media is missing is what “Is” Global Warming? Global warming is the process by which the world heats up there are two key components natural and manmade.  Natural Global Warming  is caused by the earth going through cycles spanning many thousands of years in which there is warming and cooling.  Other natural factors such as the sun affect the temperature on Earth. Anthropogenic ,or manmade global warming, is the effect human activities have on the warming of the earth. What most people have a hard time agreeing with is how much global warming can be contributed to Anthropogenic global warming and how much is simply a natural occurrence that happens in cycles over thousands of years.

Ever since the Industrial age began in the 1940’s carbon, which is being produced by emissions mostly caused by the automobile and factories that are built all over the United States.

These man-mande objects have produced more carbon-dioxide as more factories are being built. It was not until 1982 that there were limitations that set by the government. These new limitations made the companies of the factories set in filters to catch some of the smoke before it entered the atmosphers. These filters seemed to work however there was still pollution from emissions that were produced prior to the filter and their effect was not enough to make any significant changes to the level of carbon monoxide.  Global Warming started to become a concern to the public in 1992 when scientists reported that Global warming is a danger and we  must make new efforts to counter it. This brought on many new studies on how to prevent global warming.

The popular belief of the cause of global warming is that humans are responsible. Many influential people both political and non political have stated that the debate is over and we know for a fact that we are the cause of global warming. With their influence, many people have accepted this as being a fact. But who are these politicians receiving their information from. Many reports come from the ICCP, which are in charge of studying……. Other sources that take part in these studies is NASA. With Satellite images of the earths temperature, air movement, sea temperatures, and may other helpful tools that show that the earth is taking on significant changes.  A major advocate for global warming is Al Gore. Al Gore mostly known for his controversial loss to George W. Bush in the presidential electins of 2000, has taken it upon himself to educate Americans about global warming and how much it threatens not only the United States but the entire world. He put together a number of studies from various organizations and made a documentary called “The Inconvenient Truth.” The documentary became very popular and has won an Academy Award for best Documentary. In this movie he shows his audience the effects of global warming and how it will change the temperature of our earth in years to come. Some of the facts stated showed that over the past century the rise in carbon dioxide has dramatically risen and continues to grow at an alarming rate. The change in the amount of carbon dioxide is apparent in different events that have taken place. The most alarming event is the melting of the ice caps. Slowly but surely the ice caps are diminishing which may lead into a rise in sea level. This rise will have many drastic effects. For instance the most obvious effect in the rise of the sea level will cause water to rise over land which will destroy anything that is near the current sea level including buildings, vegetation, and animal life………. Another effect of global warming is the change in air currents and ocean currents, which we rely greatly on to keep the temperatures stable……. These effects alone will lead to major changes in the earths environment which will lead to unimaginable effects.

On the other side of the Global Warming debate there are people who see this as being a hoax or simply a natural process that has been excessively exploited with out truly understanding the situation. There are a few sides towards the argument against global warming. One being, that it is a conspiracy set by the government which In my opinion is completely off base and irrational. Another theory is that global warming is not caused by humans and that is a naturally occurring process that has undergone for many centuries and will continue to proceed regardless of human activity. The better of the two arguments is obviously the occurrence of the earth naturally undergoing Global warming. This group sees the earth as always changing. One of their arguments is the study of the earths varying temperatures in thousands of years instead of only the past decade. These measurements are taken from core samples from the earths glaciers. When examined these cores showed information about the earths atmosphere dating thousands of years. The information comes from the content that was trapped inside the glacier and preserved for centurings. This gives the scientist a look at the changes that occurred centuries ago. The results of the experiment showed that the earths tempeature has fluctuated drastically over time from warm to ice ages.

What I have concluded after thoroughly researching this topic I came to the conclusion that Global Warming is occurring. However, I believe that there is not enough evidence to prove whether it is caused by man or that it is merely a naturally occurring cycle. I disapprove of the media reporting on Global Warming as if the world is going to over heat in ten years. This scenario reminds of an event in 2001 with the idea to invade Iraq. The government reported that Iraq was accommodating terrorists and was an imminent threat to the United States. With a majority of Americans supporting this we went through with it only to find ourselves five years down the road the majority is against the war and Americans feel that they were lied to about some of the evidence that was presented about Iraq. Now we are again confronted by the threat of global warming. As the decision to invade Iraq with supposedly undeniable evidence we invaded, again the government and the media are reporting about something the know little about. I do believe that researching alternative fuels/power supplies  is an excellent idea and should continue on. My point is that before we decide to believe that Global Warming is such a large threat I think we need to really need to take a close look and thoroughly study it before we conclude that Global Warming is either a natural process or that it really is all of our fault..
