  1. can you quit student council?if you can then i would if you cant then try writing notes and read them over a few times or try memorizing them or read them during the speech but make sure it isnt too long because then everybody will get bored

  2. do it!

    trust me

m a student and i did the anouncements last yr and it was cool!

dont worr besdes ppl hink its cool ahaha :]]

its not lik anyone can u see u lol

  3. well.. you have to relax yourself  if you are nervous,

but  after you start reading those announcements everything will be fine..

  4. The first thing, do not panic.  It is a great honor to be asked, and I think you shall do a good job.  Its hard to tell someone not to be afraid. So imagine it this way. "Speak as if no one is listening."  Go in with a smile, and enthusiasm, not worry and fear.  Take deep breaths before, mabey even read a joke that will calm you down and make things seem humorous. If you can look at them in a "funny" light, they shall truly not seem scary anymore.  Believe in yourself, that you can. Have confidence! Live, laugh, speak, and enjoy!

The first time you speak publicly, it is always a bit scarey- I know this. But the second time you do it, it will be better, the third time- even better. Don't you wish you could start with the second time?

hehe, I think we all do. But there is only one way to get to the second time, and that is through a first.

Do the best job you can, and have a good time doing it!

Everyone started with a first time, with that feeling of fear and apprehension.  Just give it a try, you may suprise yourself in a goodway.

    Good luck to you,

  5. The fact that you're afraid to do this is good reason to be picked to do it. It's a good advance for your communications skills.

  6. Whats the big deal? You're just reading off some announcements twice a day.

  7. Pretend you're not talking to the whole school, and read the announcements over a few times before you say them into the intercom. :) You'll be fine. Just breathe. Recite what on the paper in front of you, and don't be afraid to laugh at yourself if you accidently mess up a word or too. It's not big deal, no one will think less of you if you make a mistake. If you want some help, ask if you could have someone read with you the first couple of times. Like half and half. Maybe it'd be better that way anyways since there is the rest of student council. it could be broken up into parts.

  8. just be calm

read it in ur head and out loud a few times

and it works and furthermore it would improve ur confidence in life!!!

    good luck

ps. i hope u had a nice valentines day :p

  9. You must get over your fears. Think of the future? You might land an important news caster job or play an important part in a big movie. You have to feel comfortable with this.

Its really not that big of deal.

  10. get confidence in u ,repeat urself that u can do it,then go forward

  11. be brave. pretend like you know what youre doing and i bet no one else will even notice.

  12. go for it and get over it.it will be hard at first ,then you will get used to it.

  13. I work in a school and have to make loads of anoucements over the intercom every day. The first time was the hardest but now it's a piece of cake. Just take a deep breath before you start, and speak slowly and clearly. Good luck.

  14. Plainly put, get over it.  Public speaking is an important part of life.

Scary as it may seem, remember, with these announcements, all you're really going to be doing is reading out loud.

    You can do it!

  15. practice at home.... in front of the mirror holding a hair brush..... when you're at school doing it, you have to tune everyone else out and concentrate of talking into the mic... so practice outloud at home is the only way to get use to doing it...after a couple of times, you'll be a pro!!

  16. don't worry, ive been through this too. and what i learned is that it's not so bad - because when your talking to the microphone, no one is there looking at you, which makes it a lot more easier! so you have nothing to worry about

  17. i did the anouncements ones and it's not that scary.

nobody listens so much. in my school ppl make so many mistakes and no one even remembers.

so don't worry it's just like giving info to ur friends but for a bigger amount of ppl.

    good luck (-;

  18. Picture the microphone naked...

    Wait what?

  19. Go ahead and do it!  It will be a good experience. You will be glad you did it later.  I assume you will have set things that you will announce, but in addition, you might ask students to give you ideas on what they would like to hear in the announcements- what they would like to be informed of or are interested in.  Maybe have a suggestion box or boxes around campus to let others give input.  Just remember to have everything organized, and maybe even rehersed before you go over the intercom.    Good luck with it!

  20. Think of it as an honor out of a whole school you get choosen. You are given a list of what to say so its not like you have to adlib it so thats a plus. Just sit down when you read them. Take a deep breath before and just read it like your talking to friends that should not make you as nervous. And your on student council everyone already likes you so who cares if you mess up a little.

  21. many times i have regretted for things i did not do because i would feel embarrassed or afraid.u should definitely accept it because if not u will always wonder why u did not or what could have happened.believe me u should take the risk and then u can not imagine how satisfied of you u r gonna feel.u just be strong that moment be sure u are always well prepared for doing the announcements.if something goes wrong it is not your fault because they chose u to do this which means they believe you are appropriate to do it so how could u let the chance leave?at the moment u don t believe to u very much but the others do.u r very Lucky because under other conditions u should all alone believe in u first and then persuade the others that u can make it .i hope u see how lucky u r that u just have to persuade u.the first times u will announce it will be a little bit frightening but do not give up because as time passes it is gonna be just a convention and u will just find it funny when thinking u could have ignored this

  22. fear only paralyzes your brain , and the reason you don't know what to do is because of the fear factor.

Now, try a few visualization techniques, and imagine for example that you absolutely love doing that and you're like thin TV anchor, and are bold, killer momma, gonna get them suckers kind of a girl. You're strong, motivated, and nobody better mess with you!

Now go get them tiger!! :))

    You'll be just fine!

  23. I am a club dj and I have had the same problem always. I actually hate my own voice a LOT but I have to get on the mic all the time.

Anyway, I don't know if this helps... but what I do is I pretend that I have a fabulous deep s**y radio voice and that I am a charasmatic personality. Before I hit the on button to the mic I just picture in my head that smiling confident guy I hear on morning radio or the news or something sitting up straight and proud to be himself, then I just say what I need to say and if I mess up I pretend that I've done it so many times that its ok for me to mess up because I am a pro.

    My checklist is

    sit or stand up straight,

    smile,

speak clearly and somewhat slowly at an even pace,

and forget who I am and just focus on the message.

When its done say, have a good day!

Its painful until you get all the way through it, but, well for me I always think I do horrible but then I get tons of compliments... but maybe they just feel sorry for me. lol

Its over before you know it. The experience will help you. I say do it for sure.

This is just what I do, but I'm a little nutty.

  24. say the announcements you will feel great afterwords dont be afraid

  25. I have to shout over a tannoy everyday as i work in a very big place, Do it somewhere where no one sees you first that's what i did.

Then you will start to get used to it!!!

It is a little worse when you can also hear yourself so cover your ears or something.

    Good Luck,

  26. No need to be afraid.  Clearly, if you are on student council you are an outgoing person already.  You just need to learn to speak in public.  That's not too hard, you only need to practice.

You can practice by giving news reports to your family, or making up fake announcements and reading them to yourself in front of the mirror.

It is also helpful to use a recorder when you're practicing so that you can hear what you sound like and if you say ummm too many times.

The best thing you can do is go in prepared...

Best of luck...I'm sure you'll do great!

  27. Write down what you have to say, practice it out loud at home, and then you will be sorted.  People hear your voice all the time anyway, why should this time be any different.

  28. Just do it! You'll get over your nerves after a while..

  29. Not exactly public speakking.  Just read and be yourself.

  30. What you do is turn off any speakers that you may be able to hear yourself on, then just read the announcements.  Pretend that you are the only one who can hear what you are saying.  Don't practice it, you will only make yourself more nervous by worrying.  Read them over once to yourself to make sure that you understand them, then just read them into the mic.

You can do it.  Read this answer outloud to yourself.

See, I told you, you can do it.

  31. Just don't think about it.  Make it seem like you are just reading over the notes to yourself.  Don't even pay any attention to the microphone and you will be fine.  it's great practice for the real world, you can do it!
