I'm in a special program for kids w/ learning disabilities...mostly on the autism spectrum, I'm not on the spectrum but I do have a non-verbal learning disability. Anyway, I haven't been going to my appointments because I've been super stressed and depressed. The director wants to meet with me on Monday morning and I'm afraid he's gonna kick me out. How do I explain to him that I'll do better if he gives me another chance? I really need another chance since I don't have anywhere else to go. I'm talking about the big man on campus here so what I say needs to sound really convincing. I'm just about ready to kill myself over this, please help.

  1. Just calmly explain to him that you have been trying to overcome depression due to your situation, and that you know you have to better.  Let him know that you are aware that this program that you are in is to befefit yourself and that you are really willing to try harder to make it work.

You need to be confident in your self when you say these things to reassure him that you mean it.

Even if you are stressed and depressed the more you succeed the better you will feel about yourself and the stress and depression will soon fade.  I hope things work out for you.

  2. So are you in speical ed or are you getting kicked out of college

  3. First of all, wait to see what the director wants.  It could be that he has seen your stress and that he wants to offer some other help.

Listen to what he says, and I'm sure he's going to listen to you.  If he tells you that things aren't working in his school, here's where you need to assert yourself.

Tell him you realize that you haven't been doing what is expected, but that you've taken steps to remedy it.  Maybe you've talked to a friend who will go with you, so you can make the appointments.

If going to your appointments is part of the requirements, then you have to convince him that you will be going.  If you don't want to go, then you probably won't be able to stay there. (sorry)  But maybe the director knows of another place that would be more acceptable for you.  He can't just kick you out without giving you an alternative.  And, if it's not working out at the place your at, maybe the alternative would be your best bet.

I think you're going to have to look to the future and see where you want to be in a year and 5 years.  How will you get there?  What kind of help will you need?

I know your thoughts about meeting with the director is giving you even more stress.  Don't do anything that can't be undone.  Talk to someone you trust and who cares about you.  Good luck!

  4. be honest tell him the truth what you are feeling and why you wasn't there and do as you have here explain that you know how important it is to be in the class and if this the only time you messed up tell him everyone deserves one more chance and ask if there is something extra work or report school project to make up for what you did and tell him that is why you are there because you have some problems and among them are depression tell him you need to seek help with it and Hun if it is that bad you really do need to seek help hope this helps honest is best.
