I am a student at a community college. I might tranfer to a 4 year college. If I go to a 4 year college; I know I'll want to try-out for the football team. I never played football before; except for a couple gym classes in the middle school. I didn't like football back then; but I love the sport now. I haven't learned how to play the sport, but want to learn. My community college doen't have anything for football.

If I go to a 4 year college; what should I do so I can try-out for the football team.

  1. i would like to know your size so i can postion you and run a 40 yard dash and have a number on that but other than that lift and lift and lift without any information on size speed and how much you can bench and squat i really can't tell you exactly that.

  2. Because you have zero experience, I'd suggest you find a small school, and proably in Div III,

Contact the Head Football coach of several schools, and inform them you're interested as a WALK ON, and what are your best options.

5'8, 180 small, but a good possible WR (wide receiver)

25lb curls is weak, bump it up to 35 lb sets,

Pyramid build it, with a french curl bar...

Youlll need the strength to help defend the DB's

Or maybe you'd be a DB (defensive back)

  3. Without high school-level experience, I seriously doubt if you'd have a chance. Even at the DII/DIII level, you'd have a very slim shot of making the squad. Just being honest.

In the 90-plus years of the NFL, there has only been one person of note who made an NFL squad without playing high school ball. It was Merlin Olsen, a member of the "Fearsome Foursome" D-line and famed broadcaster later. He was one-of-a-kind, though.

If you're serious, it's best to contact the coach WAY ahead of time, find out when tryouts occur, what's expected of you, and what physical tests you'll need to pass. Grab some of your buddies who played, and have them show you as much technique as you can absorb. One thing you need to experience it getting hit. You need to be able to take that kind of punishment every day to play.

  4. Ummmm...these guys started playing at 4 years old and up man.  You are YEARS behind....there exceptions to the rule...but.
