  1. I would look into enrolling in one of the virtual public charter schools in Kansas.  (I moved from there two years ago and helped two of the schools get started.)  However, enrollment is most likely closed for this school year.  Some may take late enrollments.

As for college, she'll apply like everyone else, take the SAT or ACT, show her high school diploma (that you make, or a program gives her), show her transcript (you or a program makes), and her high school portfolio.  The public universities in KS are VERY open to HS'ers.  The CHECK HS'ing group even has documents from every state university about their HS'ing admissions policy.  Most of the schools have the info online also.

Here is the best place to get started (however, they are anti-virtual school):

Here is the list of virtual public schools:

If you're near Wichita (where I moved from):

    http://www.wichitahomeschool.org/

    (also anti-virtual public school)

    If you're near KC:

    (also anti-virtual public school)

Most of the virtual schools should be having parent info sessions this spring.  Here is the list of the ones I highly recommend:

  2. Dear Connie, You have a heart breaking, but all to common story about bullying in schools today.

I am SO sorry your daughter is suffering, just to get her education.

My son, is nine now.  When he was only six, he started to break out in hives, fevers, etc. because of school...the bullying was so bad... it was making him sick in ways.

I took him out, and he is much happier at home.  I recently send him to a private Christian school, as we are new to the area, and thought it would be good to make new friends, see how it went... the school couldn't meet his needs, 'so they said', and after only about 7 weeks, he came home...this time, to stay.

Homeschooling is fun, but can be challenging.  Organization is a good thing, and it should be something that you are comfortable with... I am not talking about cleaning the house so it is perfect, etc.  I am saying, just meeting your daughters needs, and being aware and organized with planning (even if you 'unschool' which is another method of home education, I won't get into that, to cause confusion, right now.)

Your daughter is very loved, and cherished by you, this is obvious, as you are speaking from your heart... I can hear it in my heart too, as a mother.  You know that you want the best, but how can you give it to her, when she can't even go to school- something that 'should be' a simple thing to do each day.  My heart is with you both.  BUT you can get past this.  There are colleges and universities that actually LOOK FOR a certain number of the enrollment, to be home educated.  WHY? Because they can study independantly, they can learn fast, follow instructions and can also pass on the 'tips' for independant learning to the peers, that attended schools!  I understand you are concerned about financial requirements for her post secondary education, but, there are benefits to having her home...that may help with this.

    1.  Your daughter will get her educational 'book' needs met, sooner at home (homeschooling can actually take as long as you want...but I know a lot of homeschoolers, that are finished the 'lessons' by noon... and have the rest of the day for other things.  When your daughter is finished the educational...book learning...we'll call it... she can work on a project that she can sell, and save money for school!  Like: sewing, making soap, making crafts, etc... all are educational...(as everything is anyhow!!) and, she can learn a new skill, talent or gifting.

She sounds incrediably bright, and if she is a music student (for example) she could teach younger children the piano (they get paid a pretty good amount...and this can be done after school hours or for local homeschoolers needing music education for their children)... this would also apply, towards tutoring.  She can peer tutor.  All the while, she can make money, that you can put in a specail savings account or under a mattress LOL... and save for post secondary school.

    2.  She is going to be home more, and this will free up your time, because she can help around the house, thus... you can contribute in the same types of ways...like I mentioned in number one... that she can...you can work together and build a little business... to save for her schooling later.

    3.  The bonding will be great for she and you.  I can't say that enough.  If she is being stressed, by going to school and you and your daughter have been quarrelling a lot lately, it would help to heal your brokeness with some quality time together.  Her reduced stress will spill over, and you will be more calm too, because you aren't reacting to her stress constantly.

    4.  Finding the appropriate materials to finish out the school year.  There are options for this... you can approach your school, tell them you ARE formally removing her, but would like to have the current year's materials to offer your daughter at home.  This will buy you time, to get her materials collected from other places, for the start of Sept... homeschooling DOES NOT have to be expensive.  You can homeschool on a shoe string budget and still have everything you need for your child to succeed educationally.

Other alternatives are: online, distance/correspondence courses.

I can't stress enough, that support is important.  If you can find a group in your area, find out when they meet, what they do and when.  Some have field trips, co-ops, exchanges, curriculum swaps/sales, etc.  They are worth checking out!  If you cannot find one locally... search on the internet.  (keep my email, you can email me, ANYTIME and I will support your endevour!)... I just started writing for a national homeschooling magazine (the final edit of my first article hit my email today...so, there are magazines out there too!... find support!!)

I also sell curriculum online, I am not the only one... there are many... just look around (I won't include the online store here, because I don't want to get in trouble for 'spamming' in here).

There are TONS of resources online...more than you can read in a day... and more added all the time... you have the world of knowledge, just a click away... so, homeschooling, doesn't have to be expensive financially.

Be blessed in your adventure.  In your relationship with your daughter... this will become a great thing...

Email me, if you wish... and I will share what links I have here, etc.

    Tracy

  3. omg i can totally relate to your daughter!

i almost thought my mom posted this question!

well anyways if you would go to school you would see why she hates it.

theres just too much drama and people are just mean!

i am homeschooled, i started on monday, and its an online homeschool.

my teacher dropped by my house today and its really cool.

    here is where i go-

    http://www.caliva.org/

in high school i am going back to public school, because high school is very important.

if you enroll your daughter[btw its free!]

i hope to talk to her on there on open sessions![when all the students and a teacher get together on an online thing and discuss with microphones that the school supplies.]

    best of wishes!
