My fiance and I will be first time cruisers aboard the Carnival Ledgend ship, I just wanted to know what to expect as far as dining, drinks, shows. What about paid services such as massages and special dinners, any idea how much they run?

  1. Cruises are great.. I am sure that you are going to have a great romantic time.. If I were you to just start things off I would order a bottle of Champain and strawberries to have in the room when you arrive.. As far as drinks, I am guessing that you are talking about adult drinks.. These you have to purchase seperatly and average about $5 to $7 each.  The cruise that I went on, you got to keep the glass that the mixed drinks came in, and they were really neat cups.  Dinning is fun, You are going to go to your desinated dinning room at your dinning time each night. Your breakfast and lunch times are also sat up, but most ships have a breakfast and luch buffets on the top decks by the pool and there is always rooms service.. You will sit at a desinated sized table.. Try to get to know who you are setting with, I have met some of my best friends on cruises.... You will get a menu and can order all that you want off that menu.. So you and your new wife should both try something different to be able to taste more and get more of the experience.. Now when it comes to the special resterants, most require a reservation. Most can be made as soon as you board. The sooner the better. You will also have to pay a fee to eat here.. They usually run between 15 and 30.00 per person per meal.  On the Spa, You need to make reservaton as soon as you board. It fills up very fast so as soon as you board you need to head to the spa to set those up.. Most of the shows on board are broadway style. They will also have presentations the night before each port to give you some optional information., like things that you shouldn't miss and best buys..

Also when you get your documents you should also get a guide to some land excurions , spa treatments and what to expect

  2. Ummmm.....did you check their website or maybe call them??

  3. First, I've been cruising with Carnival many times.  Dining, drinks, and shows have been of consistently GREAT quality.  Don't spent a second worrying about that aspect of your cruise; you'll have great food, a lot of laughs, and good drinks.

The average price for a special dinner cover charge is about $20 per person.  Warning:  That is the cover.  I assume you want a special night with your bride, and that probably means an extra in terms of wine or cocktails.  The sky is the limit there... my advice is to budget together for that special night.  Wine isn't cheap, so you'll need to realistically budget to what you can afford from a nice cadre to individual glasses.  I'm not a fan of specialty dining, but I'd do it with my new bride.  Plus, I'd understand the cost.  Budget for it as a special event; it will be cheaper than a 5 star restaurant, but the food won't be as good.

Drinks will run high; $5 or so for alcohol mixes.  Beer is cheaper, as is soda, some drinks run higher.  Budget!  Massage prices vary; sometimes there are specials so if that's a treat you want read your ship newspapers to see when the bargains are, as they are offered.  It's probably around $50 per person, but can be higher or lower.

If you and your fiance want a great cruise on a reasonable budget, just decide in advance what you want to spend for the extras.  $500 isn't unreasonable for spa services and a luxury dinner, plus cocktails at the shows.  Shore excursions will cost you more, as will photos.  Budget first, then stick to your budget (that photo of embarkation might mean you drink coffee or tea during two night's dinner... but it might be worth it in the end!).

  4. Cruisecritic.com

is good to find out about special events on these cruises.

also call Carnival cruiselines and have them tell  you their prices.

    have a wonderful cruise.

  5. You can get a couples massage - we had one of NCL and it was great.  Runs about $200 for 30 minutes.

Drinks are anywhere from $4-$8.00 - depending on what you get.  Avoid the souvenir glasses, you pay for them.  Get the same drink in a plastic cup a whole lot cheaper.

Avoid shore excursions if you just want to hang out at the beach.  You can go there on your own most anywhere by cab.

  6. Many cruise tips for first time cruisers. www.onevacationclub.com - I used them in the past as they have good offers. Enjoy your honeymoon.
