I am doing light teal green and brown in my bedroom and the brown that I bought looks like melted milk chocolate and is more orange than anything. I need a really good shade of brown that works well with light teal.

Help PLEASE!!

  1. Buy a tiny can of white paint and slowly add it to your brown can.

  2. Hi there,You might want to try the beautiful color range of

    A)MARTHA STEWART everyday color(www.marthastewart.com)

    -F04(soapstone)

    -F10(apple butter)

    F01(fresh earth)

    B)DUTCH BOY paint(www.dutchboy.com)

    -13A-6(woodridge)

    -16A-6(abruzzi mountain)

    -15a-6(briar)

The above are just a few suggestions(Earth shades of brown)I thought might work well with  teal green.

For the full range of brown, you can stop by any SEARs store or respective websites to view their Color Charts.

    Good Luck :)

  3. turksih coffee from sherwin williams. my room is teal and brown stripes and thats the brown that i used.

  4. go to the store and get a better shade?

  5. if you have seen the ad to lowes or a company like that, you show them the color that you want and they make the color for you.

  6. All depends on the shade you want--colors harmonize because of shades,  not abstract generalities. For instance. ALL browns (even tans) harmonize because their shades (either  yellow or red) are shared with the accent color involved. Burnt brown, for example has an underlying red tone, just as taupe has pink in it. Cafe au lait and sand are distinctively yellow. Try mixing paint chips and you'll see how awful trying to combine groups. Oyster looks great with a strong steel grey that has no yellow.

Teal is a medium green with a strong blue component that looks best with yellow-shaded medium browns and tans. Dark red browns are too strong.

But why in h**l would you want to mix two powerful colors? They'd be struggling for dominance all the time and would be hot in summer and depressing in winter. I would recommend a medium mocha shade (go to Starbucks for a rough idea) for the walls. The teal would depend on a  specific shade and is too strong because rugs, bedspreads, etc. would be a nightmare. NEVER paint woodwork a deep color unless you have a wallpaper that is a perfect match. For the woodwork a pale taupe might be perfect, and an arctic white would be stunning--depends on the climate.

  7. Belgian Sweet by Behr paints ... color number 700D-6

On the Behr website they allow you to customize a room with a main color, accent color, etc. You can also look through their inspiration pallette!
