I need advice on being a labor coach?

I'm 15 and my friend is having a baby. They are going to induce labor in a few days, and she just asked me to be my labor coach because hr mom has no choice but to work and wont be there for the whole thing. I have NO idea what to do. I mean i know I'm supposed to encourage her and everything, but I could really use some advise on this. please help!!! thanks.

  2. Keep her company and ensure her everything is going to be alright.

  3. Just keep her company and hold her hand when she needs it. If you stay calm, she will stay calm. Hopefully she will have an epidural, so you won't be traumatized for life....15 is a bit young to be a labor coach but your a good friend for doing it. Bring a camera so you can take pictures of the baby once it is born. Hold her leg back when the doctor tells her it's ready to push. Encourage her and just keep her relaxed as much as possible. Ask her if there are certain things she wants you to bring with you...gum, lollipops, magazines etc...she won't be able to eat the whole time she is in labor so you should eat before you go to the hospital and pack a couple of snacks for yourself to eat out side of the room and bring lots of change for the vending machines. Dress in comfy clothes because you may be there awhile. Good luck to you!!!
