I need advice on buying drum sets?

okay i started out with a beginners pdp set, and i cant decide whether to buy a complete new set, or if i should buy individual pieces.

which would you recommend?

  1. It really is cheaper to buy a complete set.

    There are inexpensive good kits out that you can buy.

    Pearl has a few that range in price about $700-$800. That is a very good price for a good kit.

    You can also find them at Pawn shops and if you have a Craigslist site for your area it's a good place to look too. My Hubby sold is Pearl on Craigslist. And actually got the price he was asking for.

    Or go into a music shop that sells drums (not all do).

    Pearl is a good brand, Tama and Mapex also have good "intermediate" kits.

    Just type drum kits or drum sets into your favorite search engine (Google or Yahoo will give the best results) and go from there. You can also purchase online. But beware the shipping costs.

  2. it's best to buy individual pieces because sometimes when you buy sets, some of the pieces don't complement with each other. customize your own drumset
