I need advice on motorcycle shifting options.?

Due to a broken ankle long, long ago I have very limited 'toe-up' movement on my left foot, the shifting foot for motorcycles. I'm trying to find out if there are decent (and reasonably priced) automatic motorcycles out there, or aftermarket kits to convert to electronic shifting, or perhaps there is a standard heel-toe type of rocker shifter that would work. I'd prefer something that can work with almost any bike so I don't get locked into a specific model (and price!). I'm not interested in a scooter either, this is for fun more than anything and I have no interest in 'scooting'.

  1. there are compressed air systems used by drag racers to shift by pressing a button however i think they only upshift and dont downshift....good luck

  2. Most of the larger cruiser-type bikes (V-star, VTX, Boulevards, etc.) come with a heel/toe shifter standard, and you would be able to shift just fine without having to raise your toe at all. Go to a dealership and see them, and sit on them to find the right bike for you.

  3. get a rocker shifter off a harley and make it work

  4. Try having a look at this.  http://www.powercommander.com/powercomma...

    Looks the goods.

    Stay Upright.

  5. You have a few otions based on what type of bike u have. Sportbike best thing is an air shifter. I won't downshift but u should have any issues there since the problem is lifting up.

Cruiser one of those heel toe thingies will get u going.

  6. Check with Ironpony.com  The heel/toe units are available.

  7. Pretty much any motorcycle that has floorboards (either standard or an added option) would come with a heel-toe shifter.  I was looking at getting floorboards for my Honda Shadow, and the kit came with the heel-toe shifter.
