I need advice on running 12 laps on a track! ?

I have to run 12 laps or 3 miles on a track tomorrow. Does anyone have any advice to help me go faster? I have to get under 28 minutes to be on the team. I'm a slow runner and I don't think I will make it. Also, should I wear spikes? i'm a 16 y/o girl btw

  1. If you think that's a lot of running, you shouldn't join track. You'll be running really far and you have to run fast and jump over those things at least 3 feet tall. And you'll be jogging most of your practice days. Just pace yourself and don't focus on running really fast.


  2. Jolt Cola. Pick it up at any CVS, Wal Mart, Walgreens, Store24 or 7/11.  

  3. first of all get that idea of i can't out of your mine girl you are not gonna go anywhere if you think like that. anyways i would suggest that don't go out too fast thinking i gotta beat that girl or i have to make it look like i'm on the front the goal here is to get below 28 so i would suggest that you drinks lots of water and eat stay hydrated throughout the day that is key to good running water water but don't drink too much b/c its not safe either ok so be logical when you drink water anyways try to get pumped don't worry b/c running that gets your confidence boost lower so get pumped think positive things in your mind try to have someone you want to try to keep up with if the person ifront of you is wayy faster than you than slow down a little but not to the point where your jogging try to keep up a reasonable pace and things like that and pray before you run and even tonight so you'll calm yourself down and rememebr whatever happens it happens for a reason :)

  4. i say it's normal to be nervous just pace yourself and run easy 3 miles in 25 minutes isn't really that fast of a pace. drink lots of water and breath you could try my trick. i slowly pas people one by one. i stay at my pace but pick it up just a tiny little bit and pick people of as i go. it encourages me that i can go faster and not to give up. hope this works!

  5. Best advice, ask a question like this months ahead of time, not one day! There is not much you can do to help your time in one day.  The best thing you can do, is get good rest tonight, stay calm, breath, and drink lot and lots of water. Dont concentrate on your time, concentrate on just running. Good luck, and have fun!!
