Question:

I need advice on selling a car to a private buyer

I've never sold a car before, and I'm having a hard time figuring out the best way to sell my 2005 Mazda 3.

It's a great car. It gets great gas mileage and is in very good condition, so I wouldn't think it would be extremely hard to sell.

I owe roughly $11,000 on it and I need to sell it for that so I can afford to finish my sophomore year of college.

Kelley Blue Book said $11,000 would be a reasonable amount to ask for.

It is VITAL that I sell this vehicle to a private buyer, otherwise I can't afford to attend college this year, or for the next few years, for that matter.

I need some advice on how I should go about selling the car. Carmax was no help, I have a sign in my window, and I've posted a few times on craigslist.

I have a job, but even working 30 hours a week (while going to school full time), I cannot afford the car.

I'm begging for someone to help me figure this situation out. If I can sell the car, I can go back to college and there is nothing more that I want to do than get my degree.

And the sooner I sell the car, the better. School starts in two weeks and I can only afford one more payment on it, so by September, I will not be able to make a payment.

Please help.

Thank you.

  1. Craigslist, local newspaper, ebay, or sometimes you can find a parking lot that lets you park your car for sale and charges you a small fee per month.  It sounds like you have to sell it to an individual to make your money back.
