I am 5'4 and weigh 160, yes i know I'm overweight i checked my BMI and I should be between 125 and 140.

So do you think i should try and lose 20LBS before I start TTC?

my mother thinks I should because i will gain more obviously when I'm pregnant and it will be harder to lose after I have a baby.

What do you think. my midwife said im very healthy I have great blood sugar and preasure. and that losing the weight is up to me.

would you try to lose it before?

  1. your overweight

  2. it would be harder to loose. just go on walks and go to the gym and lift like 2 lb weights. and keep that up everyday while eating healthy...adn trust me..thats REALLY hard when you're pregnant! i always want chocolate. but if you eat healthy and walk a lot, you should loose some un-needed weight while getting healthier in the process =]

  3. i think it would be beneficial to try to lose before ttc, but make sure to go off the diet once you start trying, wouldn't want to accidentally be dieting when pregnant

  4. my dr said losing weight makes ttc easier. i was the same size as you when we decided to try. i lost 15 pounds in about 3 months and got pregnant 3 weeks after starting to ttc! it will start a good habit of eating healthy and excercising to continue while pregnant.

  5. well i am 5'2 and weight 147 so dont feel bad... BUT i just got off of depo and that makes you gain weight like crazy! my body was 112 the MOST and with depo i feel like i fat pig.... but i look good i just think that i need to lose weight before i get pregnant since i am trying so i would say maybe 145 would be perfect for you because you are going to gain some weight with the baby
