kay so my dad REALLY wants me to join tae kwon do. so i went and signed up on saturday & it starts today. i've NEVER done anything like it before not karate or anything. i'm 15 years old. i feel like to be really succesful and good, you have to start out young, you know? i'm really nervous to go, cause i'm in the ADULT class with a bunch of different age groups...that's a little creepy eh? do you think i can be succesful when i am 15? will it make me stronger, and get more self confidence? anyone ever been in this situation?

  1. well im 13 and just started kinda. its realllllly fun. it makes you stronger. gives you a lot better balance. and when u go out knowing u have more self defence youll feel a lot safer

and being in an adult class is better bc everyone will help you. and just remember everyone in your class went through the same thing of being a white belt. have fun.

  2. I hear it's wonderful for strength, balance, courage, reflexes and self-esteem. Be grateful you're the youngest! when those oldsters are puffing and panting, you'll be whoopin' their butts. I'd like to do it, but all the classes are for kids, and I'm 54!

  3. youll never know if you dont try.

like my dad always say, youll miss 100% of the shots you dont take.

    :]

    good luckk

  4. If you start out young, yeah you might have an advantage but if you want it, you can make up for it with determination (sounds corny but seriously lol.)  Don't think you're handicapped because you started later.  It will be a bit uncomfortable, but following the course you WILL feel more confident and more.   Go for it, and became as good as they are.  Good Luck.

  5. i have never taken tae kwon do or karate or anything, but i think it will make you stronger and more confidant- good luck!!

  6. You can go ahead and try it to see to how it goes. Who knows maybe you'll go for the black belt. But if you're not really sure about it go for today and later talk to your dad and let him know how you feel.

  7. I used to do TKD and I know plenty of people that started over 15 and they did fine, It will make you stronger if you train healps/ regularly and as for the self confidence that really depends on you, it should give you more confidence to be on your own and you no you have had a bit of staged practise if you ever actually have to deafened yourself.

I was like 10 or 11 when I started training with the adults, so I am sure you will be OK. ( I trained with the Juniors, adults and black belts class) I was just over half the size of the adults but I was also higher than most of them.
