Question:

We gave our cockatiel, who was used to being out of the cage when we were home, to a bird store. They paired her with a male and they get along great. I went to see her after 3 weeks and she paced but her mate didn't want me near her, so I didn't try to take her out. She seemed like she wanted me, but her mate made her nervous. I'm hoping she has forgotten her past 6 years and is living in the present- like she recognized me ( and/or my voice ) but she didn't know why.

  1. In the pet biz for years BIRDS never forget . You can scold a macaw and a year down the road he's going to get ya back. Sorry !! but if she mates up she want have anything to do with you even handfeeds will run you out the cage

  2. Most animals do live for the present, but it could be that she heard your voice and remembered it from some where. She should have a good life w/ her very protective mate!

  3. Even cockatiels have memories, don't worry it spunds like she is doing fine. She will always remember you and she probably misses you. I would have given her to another family instead of a pet store though.
