I need alot of help!!?

Question

I play basketball and im 6'2 and i cant dunk yet i have other guys dunking impressing the coaches at summer workouts can someone tell me what i can do so i can start dunking from the front of the rim and the side !!!

What up Wesley R,

When you think about it- during a game how often does a player get more than 2 dunks (other than like Shaq or Dwight Howard).  If the only reason a coach is not impressed with you is you can't dunk -- that would be rare and unusual.

You may not be able to jump as high as others- and there are exercises and things you can do to help your vertical- but different people are able to dunk at different times- and some shorter guys like me- will probably never be able to dunk- but it's not about dunking-- it's about doing what you can do to impact the game- and i think that if you can box out, defend, rebound, take charges, and play smart on the offensive game-- your coaches won't be so interested in whether you can dunk or not.  i've never heard of a coach who cut a kid because he can not dunk- but more for lack of defense, effort, work-ethic, etc.

if dunking impresses your coaches that much, you need some better coaches.

thers no difference in dunking and laying up the ball.  in the end its still 2 points.

but if you want to work on your hops, then do some leg exercises.  you need to strengthen your calf and thigh muscles.

thats just sad if you cant dunk at 6'2 lol

but yea, you do need to know how to dunk, sometimes u gotta dunk the ball instead of laying it up unless your tony parker.

but if u wanna get some hops, go get some bigger shoes but make sure their light. then jump around your house for 2 hours a day for a month.

just jump as high as you can. also you may probably want to get a running start

don't worry bout that c**p and play the game. I'm 6'4" can only dunk a honey bun but got 12 - 18 rebounds per game when played in church league as a Center and went 4th place in WV. Just worry bout you not those other guys and learn the basics they rest will get there in time.
