I need an 8th grade level subtraction story problem, now preferably xD?

You can use your own numbers, I just need an example of an 8th grade subtraction story problem, like no Al had 5 marbles and took 3 away... that's too simple. Oh and it needs to be a variable and a numeral. I'm kindastuck because I keep doing multiplication... :/

jack went to the store with 25.00  his mother had told him to make sure he saves 15.00 for the concert the next day. jack really wanted to get chips for 3.00, a soda for 2.00 and a box of chocolate for 4.00. how much will jack have left?

by throwing in the 15.00 thing it is meant to throw a person off... important for a 8th grade problem
