  1. Not sure what it's called, but you can get it at Radio Shack.

  2. The plug is called a 3.5mm jack, there are various combinations of ends, and indeed are readily available in electronics shops.

To plug a keyboard into a computer you will need to learn about midi and how it works. Usually a 5 pin din midi out to usb in on computer.

Newer keyboards have a usb out so all you need is a usb printer style cable.

Other considerations are soundcard (sb live is cheap and soundfont compatable)

Software that talks midi, like cakewalk, cubase or pro tools.

Viena soundfont if you want to play great sounds from the computers soundcard from your slave midi keyboard.  Google your fingers off.

Read up there's lots of info on the net, it's a steep learning curve but lots of fun too.

  3. The output from the tape deck or keyboard could be too high for the mic input, try using the line input instead.

Does your tape player have input / output (rca) jack sockets on it?

If it does this would be the best way to connect to the pc.

You would need a patch cable with two rca jacks one end to a 3.5mm stereo jack.

If your keyboard has midi in / outs refer to Hank's post.

If it has a headphone or line outputs you could try those first. The result might be OK. If not refer to Hank's post again.
