Hi, i recently brought an ant farm, i caught a queen and 2 workers because it was mating season. And the workers started attacking the queen, the queen killed one of em, but didnt seem to be attacking the other one, so i got the queen out, and killed the ant that was attacking her. But it turned out i didnt kill it (I never knew though) .. So i put the queen back in and there not fighting now. They've been together for about 15 hours. But, with one worker in there, Who will feed the larva when the queen lays eggs? Im worried about putting some more workers in because they might attack the queen..Is there any way i can stop them attacking the queen?

  1. no,because she isn't "their" queen, unless you tracked down and caught a laying full sized bloated queen they see that queen as a threat, you should order some ants, you cant just catch any queen and expect the workers to do her bidding because they see her as a threat to their real queen.....(queens have their own scent so they can tell the difference) even if the queen you caught was a daughter of their queen it will have a different scent.

EDIT: the queen can care for them, but you really would just be better off ordering some ants because you need a male ant to fertilize the eggs that the queen lays and if you order them you would have a pre-set nest....if your interested here is a website...
