I think I decided on AVG but, there is the issue of anti-virus and internet security. Which one I should get? I mean, if i am protected with internet security from threats that come from the web, does that mean that viruses that i may get from elsewhere (not net related) would slip pass detection and infect the computer? And vice versa? Really confused

  1. You'd be best of getting a Internet security bundle and an ant-ivirus suite too. I just use AVG and Zonealarm because they're free.

  2. I would say if you just want to stick with something that is free for now go with avg.   Also install Spybot Search & Destroy it will get rid of any spyware or anything extra your avg wont catch.  If you are thinking you want to spend some money I would go with Kapersky.  Its a great all around tool for your needs.

    Spybot - http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Spy...

    Kapersky - http://usa.kaspersky.com/products_servic...

  3. I think is better if you go out and buy an antivirus like norton or Zonealarm.

  4. It sounds confusing - so many different choices.  However, you can expect to use at least several.  I have Kaspesky IS 7.  I also have PC Doctor and Spybot (freeware).  I doubt that there's a foolproof way of protecting your machine - it's more a matter of doing what you can.  Security threats are always evolving so it may be too much to expect the protection software to maintain an even pace.

PS - I just have to say that after wading through so many garbage questions from people who come here asking for free software or ways to crack payware, it's refreshing that somebody actually wants to pay for what they get.

  5. Buying commercial antivirus is safer, if you want freeware then stick with AVG.

  6. McAfee
