I need an artist's help.?

Question

Ok, so I am a struggling artist. I'm 14 and I've only just started taking art seriously. I come from a school that's filled with artistic talent and at times, I feel extremely discouraged. I mean, my friends are frickin' awesome at drawing animes and what not. It's not that I can't draw but I just can't find it in me. It's really disappointing because art is one of my biggest identities. At times, it's the only thing I have and everything's so frustrating. Any suggestions? Own personal stories relating to any form of art?

Well whenever I draw or paint something from a picture, I constantly look back and forth at the drawing/painting and picture, to make sure I'm drawing it right. I just said that because I noticed that a lot of people don't look back and forth at it that much and that's what makes it, not look the same... Hope i helped. =]

Don't copy your pal's just because THEY are good at anime, or whatever; Do what YOU like to do, and everything will come naturally.... You are only 14, little brother-man. Don't be so hard on yourself! Relax, and be relaxed, and your art will flow........ If it doesn't, go outside and get some fresh air, or read, or write, or call a buddy, or shoot a crow and see what happens...... Come back to the art later - It isn't going anywhere.

Check out you're local art museum, they often have art classes for teenagers. If you hone your skills, perhaps you'll feel more confidant in your work.

Also, whenever I get in a creative slump, I try to get involved in other activities. Something I'm interested in but wouldn't normally make time for. This usually helps inspire me to go back to my own medium with fresh ideas and perspectives.

You are lucky school that's filled with artistic talent and should not feel discouraged rather be encouraged joining their talent. Learn a lot from them. Never be discouraged.

Try to get into a different medium. Try photography or pottery.
