I'm with Yogi on this one.  You need to know what you are practicing and understand what you are doing and the forces/archetypes/gods/goddesses that you are calling on before you jump right in to spell casting/ritual.  You should focus right now on balancing your energy through meditation and getting in touch with whatever forces you will be calling upon (if any).  If you are practicing a self/will-driven form (no gods/goddesses/archetypes, only personal energy), then focus on balancing and building your energies.  Spells/rites/rituals are not just to be done for the heck of it.  There is no "beginner's spell" for doing whatever.  You need focus, desire, and emotion, which you will not have if you're just doing something because you think it's easy to do.  You should approach this with respect, even if you are self-driven, because you should always have respect for yourself and anything you may choose to do and you will always need to draw strength from within yourself, which is why I say get yourself centered and strong first.  When you have something specific you are trying to do, seek out the path to your desired end with all the balance, focus and strength you have developed as a beginner.

if you are starting out, you di not need a spell. you need to study.

you need to understand the forces that you are calling on and understand why to call on each different force depending on the type of spell you are trying to cast.

second, you said starting into Witchcraft, are you starting Wicca (a type of witchcraft based in religious belief in  a god and goddess?

or a more traditional type based in the forces of nature?

There are hundreds of books available that explain spellwork.  Do your research.  Chris Penczak's Inner Temple of Witchcraft, Silver Ravenwolf's To Ride A Silver Broomstick, any Scott Cunningham books, Robin Wood's When/Why/If, and Kala Trobe's Witch's Guide to Life would all be good places to start.
