  1. This is one from, http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/patter...

Hope this is what you are looking for.

    Good luck with your knitting.

  2. Check on http://headhuggers.org/

click on "see all the hat patterns"

Check through them, I know #8 and #20 use straight knitting needles.

  3. http://www.about.com has some really cool patterns for really soft caps. The ones I use are the Pink Ribbon Caps using the knitting looms. I have been using the really soft eyelash yarns from Hobby Lobby for these.

Basically knit a tube and gather the top and put a pompom on it. Let the edges roll up. Make it about 12 inches from cast on to gathering line at the top. You could measure your head, using that measurement, cast on enough stitches in your gauge to make a block, stitch up the seam and gather the top and put pompom on it too.

another pattern is to cast on 35 stitches (#9 needles, knitting worsted yarn)

Knit 2 rows, third row leave 2 stitches unknitted and repeat until you have 20 stitches left on knitting, then knit all the way to the top of the 35 again, do 6 of these triangle shapings and seam the edge. Got that one from a TV show several years ago.
