I need a desert for tonight, but I can't run to the grocery store. I have the usual - eggs, flour, sugar, baking powder ... etc. Any ideas?

  1. Since you didn't say if you had any "add ins" I gave you a simple recipe for a nice coffee cake.

    CRUMB TOP COFFEE CAKE

    Serving Size: 12

    1 stick whipped butter

    1 1/2 cups flour

    1 cup packed brown sugar

    1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

    1 teaspoon cinnamon

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1 egg, beaten

    1/2 cup milk

Combine butter, flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt and mix until crumbly. Reserve 1/2 cup for topping. To the remaining mixture, add the combined eggs and milk. Mix well. Pour into a greased and floured 8-inch square pan. Sprinkle with the reserved crumbs. Bake in a moderate oven, 375 F, 30 to 35 minutes.

    BLUEBERRY COFFEE CAKE

    CAKE MIXTURE:

    3/4 c. sugar

    1/4 c. soft shortening

    1 egg

    1/2 c. milk

    2 c. sifted flour

    2 tsp. baking powder

    1/2 tsp. salt

2 c. blueberries (drained if canned)***

    CRUMB MIXTURE:

    1/2 c. sugar

    1/3 c. sifted flour

    1/2 tsp. cinnamon

    1/4 c. butter

Mix together sugar, shortening and eggs. Stir in milk. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add blueberries last. Spread in baking pan 9x9. Mix together crumb mixture, then sprinkle on top of blueberry cake in pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.

    Note:

May use any fruit you have canned or frozen.

hope these help.            good luck and enjoy.

  2. take 2 large cans of peaches save 1/2 juice & put fruit & remaining juice in a 13x9 pan, dump on 1 box of cake mix {yellow or white} spread evenly over fruit, melt 1 stick of butter pour over cake mix evenly, if top looks really dry spoon saved juice over top. bake at 350 for 1/2 hour.

  3. peanut butter cookies are easy to make, because the only extra stuff you need is peanut butter =D

  4. Mousse.  My mom makes it all the time!  Make chocolate pudding, cool whip and mix.  Then add sprinkles if you want!  Its delicious and really good looking.

Or, you could make shortbread. All you need is butter, flour, sugar.
