I need an example of a social problem that stems from gender inequality?

I have a paper to write, but I can't think of one specific social problem that would stem from gender inequality. Just looking for some examples to give me some ideas. Thanks

I can sum it up in two words...Hilary Clinton. She is of the female gender, and does she ever have problems. She can't control her husband, (his zipper or his mouth), those trying to get her elected and she can't even control her emotions. Other than that she is pretty typical of a Presidential Candidate...dumb.

Imagine you walk onto a used car lot, eye a particular car, and ask the salesman how much it'll cost.  He throws you a first offer (which, of course, you know you'll have to bargain down).  How much does he offer you?  That depends a lot on whether you're a man or a woman, or if you're black or white.  Not paying attention to how much you end up paying for the car, the INITIAL price he offers will be least if you're a white male, and a LOT more if you're a black female.  Even without bringing skin color into it, there's a big difference between prices offered to males and females.

The insidious thing about discrimination like this is that the salesman, in all probability, isn't consciously racist.  He isn't rubbing his hands together thinking, "Here comes a woman - I can really rip her off!"  He probably throws a different price at every customer, and prides himself on being a good judge of character, and might not even realize that he systematically offers lower prices to guys.

The first thing that comes to mind is poverty and welfare. I am sure you could find numbers on how poverty is really a women's and children's issue, as a disproportional number of people below the poverty line are single mothers with children. The men are not as significantly affected. Good luck with your paper.
