Question:

I need an excuse for getting out of a small roadtrip?

My mom wants me to come with her to visit her friends and one of their daughters in about a month. The last time I saw the daughter it was just kind of strange because we have nothing in common anymore, we used to be really close friends but we've gone separate ways. I don't have a job right now, and I'm going to college which is only Monday-Friday but they want us to come on a weekend. I would rather spend the weekend with my boyfriend.

I need a good excuse to tell my Mom's friends. Help!

Say you have a group meeting for one of your projects. Then go to the library on the weekend and study, or do whatever else you want to. I've done that thousands of times :D

Hmmm... all the girls here are telling you to lie to your Mom.  What's up with that?  Shame on you all.

How about you talk to your Mom and explain that you really really don't want to go.  Tell her you just don't want to spend time with this other girl, that you want to be with your BF.

OTOH, I know you don't want to go, and I don't blame you, but maybe it's a small sacrifice for the sake of your Mom.  Let her know how you feel, but be willing to do this for her if it's important to her.

Sometimes love means giving up a bit of what YOU want for what someone else (Mom) wants.  Is it that unreasonable.

Just Dave is right, people are telling you to lie! OK, listen to this; EVEN ONE LITTLE WHITE LIE CAN COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU. Is what someone said. I have lied (and I am NOT saying it's ok), but I have learned it does come back to haunt you. Tell your mom; I'd love to go, but me and her friends' daughter don't have anything in common. There is nothing we can talk about, I mean I really don't wanna go. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings mom. Then give her a hug. :)

tell the truth that you are not interested in going.. thank them for thinking of you and maybe at another time.you might be interested the truth will set you free
